The celebration is themed “Mapping the Future,” reflecting the institution’s focus on science and technology education. The announcement was made by the Director of Student Affairs (DSA), Dr. Ademola Aderogba, during the first engagement meeting of the 2025/2026 academic session. The meeting featured the introduction of Heads of Class (HOCs) and representatives from various departments. Dr. Aderogba addressed issues relating to the academic session and outlined expectations for students. He presented an overview of academic results across colleges and departments, noting variations in performance. Students were advised to ensure lecturers are invited for scheduled lectures. Students Barred from LASUSTECH First Gate Over Safety Concerns

The restriction led to confusion among students, who were subsequently directed by security personnel to use the Second Gate for entry into the campus. Speaking on the development, security officials disclosed that the action followed an incident that occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, when a tension wire was reportedly cut from a pole and fell directly at the entrance of First Gate. According to the security personnel, the fallen wire posed a potential risk of injury, electric shock, or sparks to students and other individuals passing through the gate. Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Two LASUSTECH Students in Ikorodu

By Habeeb Ibrahim, Odeyemi Ibukun and Bisiriyu Hassan The Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Ikorodu, community is mourning the loss of two of its students following a fatal accident on Saturday  morning at Powerline Junction, before Aleje, inward Ikorodu Roundabout, Lagos. The deceased students have been identified as: Ayomide Jagun , 300 Level, Mechatronics Afọlábí Emmanuel , 200 Level, Banking and Finance (Direct Entry) According to eyewitnesses, the accident involved a sand-laden tipper truck, a Toyota Corolla, a multi-purpose bus, and several tricycles. Preliminary reports indicate that the tipper, reportedly speeding, suffered a brake failure, causing it to collide with other vehicles along the busy road. LASUSTECH Records Three Uninterrupted Academic Sessions, Secures 22 Full Accreditations

Vice-Chancellor, Professor Olumuyiwa Omotola Odusanya, disclosed this on Tuesday, September 9, during the university’s Congregation, where he outlined efforts to position LASUSTECH as a world-class brand. “We have completed three academic sessions without major disruptions. LASUSTECH Sets September 5 Deadline for NELFUND Loan Applications

The Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has announced that the window for students to apply for the National Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) for the 2024/2025 academic session will close on Friday, September 5, 2025. In a statement issued by Dr. A. O. Oduntan, the institution’s NELFUND Desk Officer, students who are yet to complete their applications have been urged to do so before the deadline. She explained that the closure is to allow adequate time for verification and processing of all applications ahead of the new academic session. Oduntan also noted that late applications will not be treated for the current academic year. “Any application after the deadline may not be treated and will be migrated to the NELFUND Loan Application for the 2025/26 session,” the statement read. LASUSTECH Begins 2025/2026 Post-UTME Screening, Increases Form Fee to ₦10,000

The Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Ikorodu, has announced the commencement of its online admission screening exercise for the 2025/2026 academic session, with a new application fee of ₦10,000. According to a statement signed by the Registrar and Secretary to Council, Mr. David Semawon Ogungbe, the screening exercise is open to both Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) and Direct Entry candidates who selected LASUSTECH as their first choice institution. The online screening portal opened on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, and will close on Sunday, August 31, 2025. To be eligible, UTME candidates must have scored a minimum of 195 and obtained credit-level passes in relevant O’Level subjects in not more than two sittings.
