NELFUND Commences Disbursement of June and July Upkeep Allowances.

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has commenced the disbursement of accumulated June and July upkeep allowances to eligible student beneficiaries following the successful completion of a platform system upgrade.

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) confirmed the development on Friday, with many students across the country sharing screenshots of credit alerts on X.

In a statement, NANS National President Akinteye Babatunde welcomed the payments and assured students that all outstanding backlogs would be settled.

“The payment of June and July NELFUND upkeep allowances has officially commenced. As I assured you, every outstanding backlog will be paid. We remain committed to ensuring that no eligible Nigerian student is left behind,” he said.

Akinteye appealed to beneficiaries who are yet to receive their funds to exercise patience, noting that the payments are being released in phases. The update brings much-needed relief after weeks of complaints over delays in the monthly upkeep support under the federal student loan scheme.

The upkeep allowance is a key component of NELFUND’s student loan initiative, offering monthly financial assistance to eligible tertiary students in addition to tuition fees paid directly to institutions.
