Officials from the Lagos State Health Management Agency (LASHMA) are set to visit Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) on Thursday, July 23, from 9:00 a.m., to monitor staff compliance with the state government's directive making the Ilera Eko Health Insurance Scheme compulsory for all university employees.
The visit, which was confirmed in a memo from the Registrar's office, comes as the university renews pressure on staff who have yet to subscribe to the scheme. The memo describes continued non-compliance as "unacceptable," noting that the directive has been in force for some time and that staff were previously informed of the government's intent to enforce it.
According to the memo, the government will use the LASHMA team's findings from the visit to gauge the university's overall level of compliance and determine further action. Sanctions have already been flagged for staff who continue to default, in line with the government's earlier warnings.
The LASHMA team will be received by the Director of Health Services, alongside officers from the university's Personnel Division, who will coordinate the visit.
However, staff who have not yet registered are being strongly encouraged to use the opportunity to complete their enrollment directly with the officials during the visit, rather than risk further delay.
