Drama  as Students Clash over Endowment after Sanwo-Olu’s visit Safiu Kehinde The visitation of Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH)   ended on a frenzy note yesterday as students clashed over the money gifted by the Governor after his departure. Sanwo-Olu had, yesterday, paid the Institution a courtesy visit,   supervising the ongoing Senate/Admin building construction before addressing the group of students who, led by the Students Union Government’s President, Balogun Aderemi, came to honor the Governor’s presence. As a form of gratitude to their gesture, the governor offered the SUG President a token of cash wrapped into brown envelopes. Shortly after the governor’s exit, argument aroused among the students over the money.   NIMECHE swears in new Members (See pictures below) Kareem Afis and Adebayo Nurudeen Nigerian Institute of Mechanical Engineering (NIMECHE) has added to their tally of young Engineers following the swearing-in of new members at the School of Engineering lecture theatre yesterday. In an attempt to promote the activities of the institute in Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), a couple of students were inducted into the institute at the event tagged “Challenges of mechanical engineer in 21 century”. Following a welcome address by the President of, Giwa Ajibola Daniel, the Acting Dean, School of Engineering, Engr. Y.O Bankole, highlighted the importance of being a member of the institute while also encouraging the student to put more effort for there is many benefit the institute holds. Following the Governor’s supervision of the ongoing Senate/Admin building construction, the President of the Students Union Government, Balogun Aderemi, requested for four things on behalf of the students which include provision of bus, renovation of the SUG building, construction of Sporting Complex, and addressing the speculations surrounding the increment of school fees ahead of the 2022/2023 academic session. While landlords recount their gain from increment, hostel agents appeared to be on the losing end of the bargain.
