Unions Declare Indefinite Strike Across Lagos Universities

By Irikefe Oghenetega Victor Staff unions at Lagos State-owned universities have begun an indefinite strike following the expiration of their final seven-day ultimatum to the state government on Friday, October 2, 2026. The decision was announced by the Joint Action Committee (JAC) of state-owned universities, comprising the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU), the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities (SSANU), the Non-Academic Staff Union of Educational and Associated Institutions (NASU) and the National Association of Academic Technologists (NAAT). The affected institutions are Lagos State University (LASU), Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Lagos State University of Education (LASUED) and Lagos State University College of Medicine (LASUCOM).
