LASUSTECH Commits to Ethical Innovation to Celebrate World Day for International Justice

Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has reinforced its dedication to ethical innovation and responsible research as the world marked the World Day for International Justice on July 17. 

The World Day for International Justice is observed annually to commemorate the adoption of the Rome Statute that established the International Criminal Court, which aligns with LASUSTECH’s mission to harness science and technology for justice, fairness, and societal progress. The university used the occasion to highlight its commitment to producing graduates who are both technically competent and ethically responsible.

Under the leadership of Vice-Chancellor Prof. Olumuyiwa Odusanya, LASUSTECH is advancing its IMPACT Agenda, focusing on infrastructure, academic excellence, innovation, and industry partnerships. This agenda strongly supports the ideals of international justice through ethical practices in research and technology.

The VC, Prof. Odusanya, who is a Professor of Public and Community Health and Chairman of the Lagos State Health Research Ethics Committee, has driven key initiatives including the establishment of Central and College Research Ethics Committees and the mandatory ethical clearance for all scholarly publications at the university. He continues to champion translational research that addresses real-world challenges.

On this significant day, LASUSTECH positions itself as a leading institution in Nigeria that integrates ethical standards with scientific advancement, contributing meaningfully to national development and global justice efforts.

Students Barred from LASUSTECH First Gate Over Safety Concerns

The restriction led to confusion among students, who were subsequently directed by security personnel to use the Second Gate for entry into the campus. Speaking on the development, security officials disclosed that the action followed an incident that occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, when a tension wire was reportedly cut from a pole and fell directly at the entrance of First Gate. LASUSTECH Announces February 13, 2027, for Maiden Convocation

The announcement was made by the Director of Student Affairs (DSA), Dr. Ademola Aderogba, during the first engagement meeting of the 2025/2026 academic session. The meeting featured the introduction of Heads of Class (HOCs) and representatives from various departments. Dr. Aderogba addressed issues relating to the academic session and outlined expectations for students. He presented an overview of academic results across colleges and departments, noting variations in performance. Students were advised to ensure lecturers are invited for scheduled lectures.
