The Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has appealed to individuals, corporate organisations, alumni and other well-meaning stakeholders to support the institution's forthcoming maiden convocation ceremony through sponsorship of academic awards.
Prof. Mayowa O. Ajibola, Chairman of the Senate Awards Committee, said the sponsorship drive is critical to ensuring that the university’s first convocation is memorable and impactful. He noted that by rewarding outstanding academic performance, the awards will not only celebrate excellence but also set a standard for future graduating classes at LASUSTECH.
According to Prof. Ajibola, the awards are designed to encourage academic excellence while celebrating students who have distinguished themselves in their various fields of study. He added that each college and department within the university is expected to sponsor prizes for deserving graduates.
To facilitate the initiative, interested donors have been requested to make contributions into the LASUSTECH Sundry Income Account with Keystone Bank Plc. The committee stated that the minimum sponsorship contribution is ₦50,000, payable for five years in advance, as part of efforts to sustain the awards programme.
The university believes that the sponsorship scheme will not only promote a culture of excellence among students but also contribute significantly to the success and prestige of its historic first convocation ceremony.
Consequently, stakeholders are encouraged to partner with the institution in recognising academic achievement and supporting the development of future leaders through the Maiden Convocation Awards initiative.
