Somoye Muiz Adeola, a 400-level student of the Department of Civil and Construction Engineering at Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), has been named the institution’s Best Engineering Student and awarded the H.O.B. Lawal Foundation Scholarship.
Adeola, who has a Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 4.73 out of 5.0, received a scholarship cheque of ₦120,000 and was also recognised as the Best Overall Student in his department.
The award was presented on Saturday, September 5, 2026, at the OLAC Event Centre, RAONI Bus Stop, Ibeshe Road, Ikorodu, Lagos. The event was organised by the Nigerian Institution of Civil Engineers (NICE), Lagos State Chapter, in partnership with the H.O.B. Lawal Foundation.
Speaking after receiving the award, Adeola said the recognition would motivate him to maintain his academic performance.“Being recognised as the Best Engineering Student means a lot to me. It is a reminder that the hard work and consistency are worth it, and it motivates me to keep pushing for more,” he said.
The H.O.B. Lawal Foundation Scholarship is aimed at recognising and supporting outstanding engineering students in tertiary institutions across Lagos State. Other high-performing students from different institutions also received awards at the event.
Adeola’s achievement adds to the academic accomplishments of students in LASUSTECH, and serves as recognition of his hard work and consistency throughout his studies.
