The Funmi Babington-Ashaye Foundation has awarded ₦100,000 each to five outstanding students of the Department of Insurance and Actuarial Science at the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH),
on Tuesday, August 18, 2026, at the College of Applied Social Sciences Conference Hall, in recognition of their academic excellence.
Representing the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olumuyiwa Odusanya, the Dean, College of Applied Social Sciences, Prof. Olumuyiwa Olamade, appreciated the Foundation for its support, noting that the award would encourage the beneficiaries to remain committed to their studies.
The Head of Department, Dr. Mrs. Adeola Banjo, also commended the Foundation for sustaining the initiative over the years. She noted that the founder, an alumna of the university, established the award as a way of giving back to her alma mater.
At the event, the Foundation’s representative, Mr. Sunday Oyeniyi, said the award was established to support outstanding students in their academic journey. He urged the beneficiaries to make good use of the opportunity and emulate the Foundation’s spirit of giving when they attain positions of influence.
The beneficiaries are Miss Akintoye Oluwademilade, Miss Salami Fathia, Miss Adedipe Blessing, Miss Ayoade Mariam and Miss Oyedipo Comfort.
