In an historic victory, the Mass Communication department emerged as champions in the LaspoSuG cup, defeating Nappes with a thrilling score of 2-1. The goals came from Adejuwon Adekunle and Victor Shubomi, marking Macsa's first-ever tournament win.

However, the final match was not without controversy, as Macsa's star player, Adekunle Adejuwon, who had been consistently prolific in scoring, received a red card for elbowing Nappes' central back, Oduyele Peter.

Speaking after that game,  Adekunle expressed his joy on his team's success.

"I feel so happy and motivated, though  the match was so tough but glory be to God.

"Talking about the goals, that is what I trained myself for and before we started the SUG competition, I heard we have never won this competition and I made a promise to break the record this year and glory to God we did make it". He said.

However, Oduyele Peter expressed frustration with the officials for not ending the game promptly after his injury, emphasizing that football is a sport, not a war.

He praised his team's performance and thanked the SUG sports director for providing a platform for talent display. Yet, he also highlighted the need for better medical facilities for injured players.

Napes' captain, Ashafa Adeolu, who contributed three assists to his team's campaign, expressed sadness over the loss but acknowledged that in football, there must always be a winner. He urged his team to stay committed and prepared for upcoming competitions.

Coach Quadri Sulaimon of Napes described the match as interesting and praised his team's efforts despite coming in second place. Seven teams participated in the tournament, with the top two making it to the final stage.

Due  to a shortage of funds or financial constraints, the trophy was unfortunately not presented to the champions of the competition, as confirmed by the SUG Sport Director, Comrade Eshinlokun This situation adds to the challenges faced in organizing the event.
