NAOSS Celebrates "Omo Ogun Day" in Grand Style

The National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) lit up Lasustech University in Ikorodu, Lagos State, with its annual "Omo Ogun Day" festival. 


The event, held at the 700-seater hall, brought together Ogun State students from various backgrounds to promote unity and love among one another, under the theme "Culture and Our Origin."

The festival began with Comrade Saka Azeez Abidemi, shedding light on COSLAG, the Conference of Ogun State Students in Lagos. He explained that COSLAG unites Ogun State students from 11 different schools, including Yaba Tech and LASU. The essence of COSLAG is to foster unity among Ogun State students, and its meetings are hosted by various member schools on a rotating basis.

                

Ogunyemi Abd Azeez, hailing from Saagumu, delivered an informative speech on "The History of Ogun State." He portrayed the state as a land of wealth and knowledge, citing prominent figures like Prof. Wole Soyinka, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, and entertainers such as Wasiu Ayinde and Adewale Ayuba. He also recognized Dr. Lawal Abiola as the founder and first Aare of COSLAG and concluded with panegyrics to the Egba people.


Dr. Akinola Oladeji addressed the audience on "Culture and Our Origin." He emphasized the importance of embracing and preserving culture in a diverse society. Dr. Oladeji encouraged students, regardless of their tribal backgrounds, to come together in unity and love. He also announced the launch of a foundation to support students facing financial challenges.

The event featured captivating cultural dances performed by Ayo Apala, adding to the vibrancy of the celebration.

Dr. Abiola Lawal, the pioneer Aare of NAOSS, presided over the inauguration of the 2023/2024 executives, entrusting the association's leadership to new individuals, including Odebiyi Daniel as President and Fagbemi Halima as Welfare Director, among others. Dr. Lawal recognized the outgoing executives for their dedicated service, including Yekinni Rukayat Oluwaseun as the most supportive mentor and Tiamiyu Sekinah Omotola as the most punctual member, among others.

                     

Distinguished guests, including Com. Awofala Abiola, Com. Ogunyemi Azeez, Hon. Adelaja Adebola Adekunle, and Com. Alimi Olamilekan, Chairman of NAPs LG, graced the occasion.

Their presence, along with other members from different associations, underscored the significance of the annual "Omo Ogun Day" festival in fostering unity and celebrating culture among Ogun State students.

Students Barred from LASUSTECH First Gate Over Safety Concerns

The restriction led to confusion among students, who were subsequently directed by security personnel to use the Second Gate for entry into the campus. Speaking on the development, security officials disclosed that the action followed an incident that occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, when a tension wire was reportedly cut from a pole and fell directly at the entrance of First Gate.
