 FOSSU holds Annual Amala Day Festival

In a cultural celebration that brought together students from across Oyo State, the Federation of Oyo State Students Union (FOSSU) hosted its annual "Oyo Day Festival" at the School of Technology, Engineering Theatre Hall. The event, themed "Norms and Tradition of Today's Generation  ," aimed to foster unity among Oyo State students and featured distinguished guests.


During the event, Dr. John Oyebadejo, the staff adviser for the Oyo State Student Association, emphasized the significance and integrity of culture. He highlighted that Yoruba culture and language have gained recognition internationally, with even institutions like Harvard University incorporating Yoruba language into their curriculum. Dr. Oyebadejo encouraged attendees to take pride in their language and heritage.

Mr. Ibrahim Fatoyinbo, the guest speaker, urged attendees to reconnect with their culture, emphasizing the richness of Yoruba heritage. He mentioned that Yoruba culture encompasses various aspects, including style, clothing, way of life, beliefs, and perspectives. Mr. Fatoyinbo also stressed the importance of Yoruba language in education, noting that using it can enhance understanding, especially in complex subjects.



Highlighting the historical significance of Yoruba culture, Mr. Fatoyinbo pointed out the Yoruba system of governance, which has a long history of practicing democracy and a separation of powers.


In conclusion, Mr. Fatoyinbo commended FOSSU for organizing the event, which allowed students to connect with their roots and appreciate their cultural heritage.

The event received distinguished guests, including the Dean of Students Affairs, Dr. Aderogba Ademola, SUG President Comrade Surakat Muftaudeen, SUG Speaker Comrade Quadri Oyewole, SUG Deputy Speaker Comrade Odu Onikosi, Nulass President Oduga Fawas, and Aare NAOSS President Ayoyinka Richard.

Students Barred from LASUSTECH First Gate Over Safety Concerns

The restriction led to confusion among students, who were subsequently directed by security personnel to use the Second Gate for entry into the campus. Speaking on the development, security officials disclosed that the action followed an incident that occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, when a tension wire was reportedly cut from a pole and fell directly at the entrance of First Gate.
