NANS Inaugurates Newly Elected Executives In Zone D Southwest

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Zone D Southwest, has inaugurated its newly elected executives.

In a vibrant gathering at the Forestry Research Institute of Nigeria event hall in Ibadan, Comrade Alao John took the helm as the new NANS Southwest Coordinator, while Comrade Sanni Sulaimon Olamide assumed the role of Secretary General, and Comrade Bamigboye Peter Oluwadamilola became the Public Relations Officer.


During this event, attendees from various Southwest states came together to celebrate this significant occasion.

The evening also featured an award and dinner ceremony, along with the Miss NANS competition, where three contestants from different states vied for the title. 

Contestants showcased different attires and answered questions posed by the judges. 

Akeju Bukola Rebecca, representing Lagos State University of Science and Technology (formerly known as LASPOTECH), emerged as the Miss NANS winner.

The event drew distinguished guests, including honorable figures, union presidents, JCC chairpersons and their executives, as well as zonal leaders from other NANS zones and the National Executives of NANS.

Comrade Surakat Muftaudeen, President of the Students' Union Government at Lagos State Polytechnic, praised the program for fostering unity among Southwest students and discussing the future of student leadership and comradeship in the region. 


He expressed pride in having Akeju as Miss Southwest, highlighting that Lagos State had effectively represented all schools in the region.

Kamaldeen Ameerat Oriyomi, the SSA to the Coordinator on Welfare Matters, lauded the program as exceptional, emphasizing the valuable connections made with senior figures within NANS. 


She commended the coordinator and planning committee for their exceptional coordination in organizing the NANS Southwest event.

Students Barred from LASUSTECH First Gate Over Safety Concerns

The restriction led to confusion among students, who were subsequently directed by security personnel to use the Second Gate for entry into the campus. Speaking on the development, security officials disclosed that the action followed an incident that occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, when a tension wire was reportedly cut from a pole and fell directly at the entrance of First Gate.
