The Sky and its endless Wonders

Many must have wondered why the sky is blue? Why is it millions of miles away from the earth? The sky houses the sun, moon and stars. On a clear day the sky appears blue, at night it appears from very dark purple to black. At night the moon, planets and stars are similarly visible in the sky. Some of the natural phenomena seen in the sky are clouds, rainbows, aurorae, lighting and precipitation. In short, the sky is our window to the Galaxy.

According to Andrew May (2022), the blueness of the sky during the day lies in the physics of when sunlight passes through the atmosphere. The light rays are scattered in all directions as they hit the air molecules, and light at the blue end of the spectrum is scattered stronger than other colors. 

Moreover, certain birds and insects as well has human inventions like aircraft and kites all the sky as their host. It is a symbol of order in the universe. It represents infinity, eternity, immortality and transcendence. The sky enables rain to reach many parts of the land where plants and animals need to survive and farmers needs it to grow food.

To astrophiles, sky gazing creates a sense of purity, serenity, and breathtaking feeling of happiness. Imagine sitting at the roof top late at night sighting the sky, how beautiful and pleasing to the sight and mind. In fact the beauty is all around. The dark night gives one an opportunity to see the moon and its transformation as well as the arrays of stars and the horizon. The sky is always changing and always beautiful- no wonder a woman can be told “you are as beautiful as the sky is vast”.

I could remember while growing up starring at the sky at night restores my hopes, makes me connect to nature, gives me a sense of freedom and gives soothing sensation to my sight. Sometimes we look in the sky because it is a reminder of all our dreams and aspirations. It gives us assurance that as long as we see the sky there is hope to reach our dreams and goals in life.

  Security Operatives walk out   Zenith Bank representatives from Classroom Safiu Kehinde Security Operatives attached to the School of Management and Business Studies (SMBS) allegedly walked out some representatives of Zenith bank from classroom earlier today.
