We took a survey to ask students what they do when ill; Visit the school’s medical center, go back home for parental or hostel mate attention or self medicate by purchasing drugs through pharmacy counters? Unfortunately, over 70% stay away from the medical center, which is one of the safest and cost effective of options.

Upon admission into the institution, no student is exempted when it comes to school medical fees, filling the medical forms and submission for signatory at the medical center. However, most students exempt themselves when it comes to using the facilities. The only frequent time students use the center is when they have emergency cases, which leads to them being rushed to the school’s medical facility.

I have used the school’s health facility on several occasions, and the class of treatment gotten would cost a whole lots if I had patronized an external health center. As a student whenever you feel down, or not too optimal, before using the exit gates, endeavor to reach out to the school nurse or doctor for counsels and drug prescriptions.

Through experience, asthmatic patience have 90% of getting relief and adequate attention when under attack, as the medical center has a nebulizer, and several other medications and techniques to help patients. The nurses assigned to the treatment rooms are one of the best to be encountered.

If the management can equip the unit anew, all quarters of the health center would be ready to serve as they expect university students. There should also be orientation and wellness advocacy for students who do not know the value of using the school’s medical center.
