What if I don't get it? What if it doesn't work out? What if it doesn't meet standards What if they don't like it? What if...? These are several thoughts that haunt phobia infested person- the sense of fear, insecurity, and uncertainty.

According to Andrea Wodele (2019), phobia is an excessive and irrational fear reaction. It is usually triggered by an attack, panic, or a negative experience. The fear of people's judgement and rejection has made teens and young people fail, even without carrying out a task

Opportunities have been missed, potential and talents hidden, creative minds remain in their shells because of the issue of phobia, "social phobia" (social anxiety) to be precise.

Feeling unsteady, dizzy, lightheaded, choking, pounding heart, chest pain, and a racing stomach are all symptoms or signs of phobia.

There are four common phobias among students and young people generally, and they are: fear of rejection and judgement (social phobia), fear of heights (Acrophobia), fear of open crowds (Agoraphobia), and lastly, the fear of tight spaces (claustrophobia).

Phobia can, however, be overcome by therapy, which is the best way to face your fears head on. For example, if you are scared of crowds and you are being asked to face the crowd for a class presentation. You can tell yourself you are better than before. It might not be the solution, but little positive self-talk could help.

If you are scared of dogs, get pictures of dogs and stare just like that, and affirm positive words to yourself.

Medications could also help to overcome phobias and anxiety.

This is a call for everyone going through phobias and anxiety to speak up. You really do not owe anyone an explanation or apology; you just have to keep working on yourself.

If it makes you feel better, avoid the things that make you anxious and pay attention to things that benefit your mental health. As time goes on, you’ll overcome your fears.
