The Void

By Popoola Idayat (Electrical Electronic Engineering) The Void I thought I liked being here, maybe because it's fun or maybe because I have to be. But honestly, being here just fills up the space around me, Distracts me, And keeps the creeping monster away (for a little while). The moment I leave 'here,' I'm back to the vast land of nothingness—just me, With the creeping monster watching me quietly, Making me a target for the hungry predators. Slowly, they scare me away Into the lonely dark cave that I've come to love. Yes, it's dark, lonely, but peaceful. I pretend I want to leave this lonely dark cave, But deep down, it's the only place I feel like me, It's the only place I'm able to express myself, It's the only place I matter...
