NAOSS LASUSTECH Postpones Ogun Tour 2025 — President Oláníyì Apologizes, Begs Students to Participate

The National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS), Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) Chapter, has announced the postponement of its highly anticipated Ogun Tour 2025 from June 13–15 to June 20–22, 2025.
The change was necessary due to the unavailability of key dignitaries, including HRM Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo CFR (Alake of Egbaland) and the Commissioner for Tourism and Culture, Hon. Oluwasesan Fagbayi, who are currently on federal assignments.
Senator Comrade Odebiyi Daniel O., also known as Biyi Oláníyì, and President of NAOSS LASUSTECH, shared insights on the motivation behind the tour and the reasons for the delay.
“The Ogun Tour has been a tradition of the association since its inception,” he explained. “Since the beginning of this administration in 2023, we haven’t had one. We noticed that many Ogun State students don’t really know their hometowns, and the Yoruba saying ‘ỌMỌ TO BÀ SÓ ILE NU, TI SO ÀPÒ ÌYÀ KO’ seems to be happening to few of us. And to stop that, we thereby thought of visiting some hometown in the State.”
The tour promises to visit significant cultural sites, including the Kuti Heritage, the family home of Mrs. Funmilayo Ransom Kuti, with opportunities to meet her descendants. Students will also meet kings, commissioners, and visit popular tourist attractions.
Regarding the postponement, Biyi Oláníyì said, “The kings and Commissioner we wanted to visit have gone for federal assignments and are not available this weekend.”
While some students expressed disappointment due to disrupted plans, they understood the necessity. “They were not happy because it disrupted their plans, but they had no option other than to wait because the tour is worth participating in,” he added.
Looking ahead to the new dates, Biyi highlighted that the postponement offers an advantage: “It will give room for more students to register for the tour.”
The president also discussed challenges faced during planning. These included gaining trust from the staff adviser and convincing students the tour would be worthwhile, as well as financial constraints requiring support from past executives.
To students still unsure about participating, he appealed: “I’m begging everyone, not just Ogun State students, but all students who wish to know more about our dear state, to please do all they can to participate in this 3-day tour. It’s worth sacrificing other things for, and you’ll never regret it!”
It's indeed going to be full of fun and lessons......... I trust this administration 💯
