LASUSTECH Students Join Global Effort to Promote Environmental Sustainability

LASUSTECH students joined a global movement to promote environmental sustainability, marking World Tree Planting Day on July 17, 2024. 

Mr. Samuel Adeshina Shoyiga, Deputy Speaker of the Youth Parliament, visited the university to support the initiative, emphasizing the importance of environmental awareness among students."

A frangipani plant (Sacred Tree) was planted at the school's Entrepreneurship Education Development (EED) center, symbolizing their commitment to environmental sustainability and wealth creation. Students were present to witness the planting and learn about the significance of tree planting.

The project, organized by Shoyiga, Mr. Lamina Azeez the Chief Executive Officer of Waves Media Limited, and the President of National Association of Ikorodu Division Students, Mr. Abdulkabir Ogunjimi Olamide, aims to empower the next generation of environmental leaders and promote sustainable practices.

Shoyiga emphasized the importance of environmental sustainability and wealth creation, stating, "I'm passionate about turning places into wealth and creating programs that show students how to create wealth beyond traditional jobs."

Azeez expressed his delight in being part of the event, referencing a quote, "The tree you sit under today was planted by someone you don't know." He felt privileged to plant a tree that would benefit future generations.



Dr. Ademola Aderogba, Directorate of Student Affairs, highlighted the urgent need for environmental action in the face of global warming. "We must take responsibility and make a positive impact on the environment to avoid the devastating effects of climate change," he stressed.

David Gabriel, Chairman of the Student Consultative Assembly, commended the initiative, citing its significance in promoting environmental awareness and community service. "Planting trees is crucial for a healthy environment and helps reduce environmental problems," he said.

The project promotes environmental sustainability, responsibility, and mentorship, inspiring others to take action and make a positive impact. As Shoyiga emphasized, "Every individual has a purpose, especially in environmental efforts and governance”

Students Barred from LASUSTECH First Gate Over Safety Concerns

The restriction led to confusion among students, who were subsequently directed by security personnel to use the Second Gate for entry into the campus. LASUSTECH Announces February 13, 2027, for Maiden Convocation

The announcement was made by the Director of Student Affairs (DSA), Dr. Ademola Aderogba, during the first engagement meeting of the 2025/2026 academic session. The meeting featured the introduction of Heads of Class (HOCs) and representatives from various departments. Dr. Aderogba addressed issues relating to the academic session and outlined expectations for students.
