LASUSTECH Warns Students to Shun Protest Against PHCN

By Habeeb Ibrahim and Hassan Bisiriyu

Lagos State University of Science and Technology has urged its students to ignore any form of protest organized against Ikeja PHCN by the neighboring community.

This directive was announced by the Dean, Student Affairs, Dr. Adedamola Aderogba in a statement released today in Ikorodu Campus, Lagos.

Aderogba emphasized that the management has been informed about a group created where students were being mobilized to fight against PHCN tariff increases, citing the efforts of the National Labour Congress to combat this issue.

Furthermore, he advised students to desist from joining the protest, as such students would be responsible for his or her actions alone, without the inclusion of the institution.

He concluded by engaging the students to report any form of complaint to the Management offices, including the Directorate of Student Affairs, for necessary actions, and warned them to be safe.

The full statement reads:

"It has come to the attention of the management that some groups of students are being mobilized by neighboring communities to protest at PHCN headquarters, Ikeja, as students of LASUSTECH, concerning the recent increase in Band-A consumption tariff.

"Be informed that the labor unions at the national level are already engaging the appropriate authority on behalf of all Nigerians. Therefore, no student should act on behalf of LASUSTECH. Whoever is involved is doing so on their personal and community level and must be ready to bear the consequences alone.

"Whoever has any issue that requires the intervention of the management or government is hereby advised to report such to the Directorate of Students' Affairs office for necessary action. You are warned to stay safe."
