The Management of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has assured the students of having a campus price for water during a Media Briefing held at the Board Room yesterday.

In response to the question raised by LASPOTECH Press Club representative on the price of sachet water and bread, the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor (Admin), Dr. Kolawole Gbemavo Godonu, who described students welfare as one of the cardinal objectives of the institution, admonished that the institution’s water is the cheapest in the school community while noting that there is ongoing discussion on price regulation of the commodity for students' benefit.

“I think Laspotech water is still the cheapest around this community. It is those who buy it in bulk that are selling to students in exorbitant prices. But I can assure you that very soon, there is going to be a campus price for water.” The Acting DVC said.

Dr. Godonu identified electricity instability as the major cause of the delay in the pronouncement of the campus price to the executive management committee.

As regards the issue of bread, the Acting Deputy Vice Chancellor revealed that an experiment was conducted on bread production where it was discovered that the smaller sizes sell faster than the big ones.

“Sometimes ago, we experimented the different sizes of bread. We noticed that the smaller sizes are going fast. But also again, it is the economy. I’m sure something will come up soon that will address the issue of students’ price on campus. In fact, it will get to a stage whereby no other bread and no other water will enter the campus because of Laspotech bread and water.” He added.

Meanwhile, the Acting Vice Chancellor of the institution, Dr. Oluremi Nurudeen Olaleye, mentioned that the school will soon be generating its own electricity, while rendering his speech at the Press Conference organized ahead of the Congress Election.
