Mass Communication Students Association (MACSA) had the last laugh yesterday as they grabbed a resounding 3-0 victory over Banking and Finance to qualify for Semi-Final stage.

First half opener from Bello Abdulrasaq and second half brace from Olayanju Sina saw the Communicators past the stubborn Banking and Finance.

Abdulrasaq put the team into lead after a thorough pass from his teammate before slotting the ball past the opponent’s goalkeeper.

Before halftime, MACSA was awarded a free kick, which was converted by Fajumobi Oluwamuyiwa, following a hard tackle from the opponent.

The goal, which hit the woodwork before rebounding out of the net, was disallowed following a disagreement between both teams.

Few minutes into the second half, Sina who came on as a replacement, opened his goal scoring account after latching on a lob pass from his teammate.

The supersub extended the lead via penalty conversion after being brought down by Banking and Finance's goalkeeper.

Despite the defeat, Banking and Finance Sport Director, Ibikunle Olusola, commended the performance of his team while admitting their shortcomings.

“We tried our best, but it’s a game of football. You win some; you loose some.”

“I can not say the better team won. I’ll rather say flaws from my side gave them the advantage.” He said.

On the other hand, MACSA head coach, Ajala Oluwatimilehin, expressed delight over the win while lauding the effort of his team.

“The performance was 100 percent from my boys. Although our opponent came with everything they have to destroy us, but the guys stick to the instructions and I’m very happy with the performance.” He said
