LASUSTECH Gets NUC's Approval For Five New Programmes.

The Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Ikorodu, has secured approval from the National Universities Commission (NUC) to commence five new full-time undergraduate programmes ahead of the 2026/2027 academic session.

The approval, contained in a letter was signed by the Director of Academic Planning, Abubakar M. Girei, on behalf of the Executive Secretary, Prof. Abdullahi Yusufu Ribadu.

However, the approval was made following a resource verification visit by a panel of experts who assessed the university’s human and material resources for the proposed programmes. After due consideration, the Executive Secretary granted approval for the full-time modes of B.Sc. Broadcasting, B.Sc. Journalism and Media Studies, B.Sc. Public Relations, B.Sc. Cyber Security, and B.Sc. Software Engineering.

All five programmes will be offered at the university’s Main Campus in Ikorodu. The resource verification confirmed the availability of the necessary facilities, including laboratories, broadcasting studios and software equipment required to run the courses effectively.

In addition, communication and ICT-related degrees is expected to broaden LASUSTECH’s academic offerings as a specialised university of science and technology. It will also create more admission opportunities for prospective students interested in these fields.

The NUC’s approval underscores its commitment to ensuring that Nigerian universities meet the required standards of staffing, infrastructure and facilities before new programmes are introduced.
