By Ibrahim Habeeb

The online registration portal at Lagos State University Of Science And Technology (LASUSTECH) was temporarily shut down, causing confusion and frustration for students who were unable to register for courses.

However, thanks to the intervention of the University's Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olumuyiwa Omotola Odusanya, the portal has been reopened and students are now able to register for their courses.

The Vice Chancellor graciously approved the extension of registration and payment of school fees till 2nd of February, planned as the final extension.

The information was contained in a release dropped by the Directorate Of Student Affairs, Dr. Ademola Aderogba stating that "the portal was reported to have been shut down and students could not do their course registration as we instructed them. The portal is now open on the intervention of the VC. Kindly tell your students again that the portal is open and they should proceed to register this weekend."

DSA pleaded with the class governors in his word to inform their class mates and 100 level students because inability to pay up in time could forfeit fresher's admission. And can forfeit a year for the returning students. "Inform your class mates and 100 level students, 100 level will forfeit admission while 200 level will forfeit a year."

In an interview with Oyebola Oyindamola, 200 level student of Accounting department she said "When I saw the information, I felt a sense of excitement, as many of my fellow students were worried about paying their fees and completing their registration. However, I also felt happy because the new first-year students were also included in the information.

Ejalonibu Morenikeji 100 level student of Mass Communication also said "I didn't feel excited neither do I feel sad but, I was just a little bit worried when the registration has not started, because the closing date is reflecting on my student portal already, and the registration has not not start.

Another 100 level student from Mass Communication, Oshuniran sheriff express his appreciate the new system of registering course and recommended an improvement. "Actually, it's a good development but still a bit criticisable . I feel the course registration should end after school fee payment ends because without school fee , matric can't be generated and course registration can't be done". His words.
