The
Federation of Ekiti State Students Union (Lasustech Chapter) has commenced
preparation ahead of a 4-day tour trip to Ekiti State which is slated for the 25th
to 28th of August.
Organized
as the association’s attempt to promote the cultural heritage of the South-west
state among its members in Lagos State University of Science and Technology, the
tour will see students visit some monumental sites such as the site of the first
plane crash in Nigeria, Olosunta Hill, Ugheli
Cave, Arinta Waterfall, and the famous Ikogosi warmspring, just to mention a few.
Speaking
on the essence of the tour, the association’s President, Leo Comr. Ayodele Prayer,
revealed that most of the students have never visited their hometown while also
noting that the tour will further promote the association among other indigenes
of the state.
“It’s
obvious most of EKITI students have never been Èkìtì before. My aim is to connect
members to their cultural heritage to have a memorable experience of aura of Èkìtì
and also to present the association and her members to EKITI, Lagos, and the
nation at large.” Ayodele said.
Considering
the security challenge facing country, the president assured that proper security
measures will be put in place with the students welfarism a top priority of the
association.
“With
respect to the current security state of the country, we’re working together
with security agencies; both government and local. That is, from the military
agencies to the Local security squads. The tour is official as the Ekiti State
Government and most institutions in the state will be welcoming us.” He added.
Meanwhile,
interested students are to pay a sum of ten thousand naira as tour fee which covers
transportation, tour guide, ticketing, networking, and a branded t-shirt.
