Key Officers for Laspotech SRC Emerge as Lasposug Gets New Welfare 2.

The Students Representative Council on Thursday held an election at the Engineering Lecture Theater Hall in which the Deputy director student affairs, Mr. Adeyeye, The Deputy Registrar Student affairs,Mr. Segun Adekoya, and Mrs. Funmilayo Fayehun were present as advisers and observers.
Following the earlier SUG election for the 2018/2019 academic session, the winner for the post of the welfare director II (Isolo Campus), resigned from her office on that same day of inauguration due to some reasons undisclosed, as stated by Mr. Segun Adekoya, DRSA.
A brief introduction of all dignitaries was held, of which the SUG Executives were all present led by the President, Comrade Akindele David, the Speaker, Hon. Balogun Temidayo, the Chief Justice, Hon. Justice Teslim Abiodun and his deputy were also present at this election. A total of 48 Honorable members of the students' representative council, Laspotech were also present.
The election for the post of the welfare director II was executed first. The speaker gave a 2 minutes’ room for the aspirants to give their manifesto, the aspirants in person of Babatunde Seun from the department of Accounting opened the floor with his speech, while his counterpart in person of Akinbolade Damilola from the department of Office Technology Management gave her speech later on.
The election commenced with 49 registered franchised honorables with the speaker inclusive. After the voting process ended which was anchored by the DRSA, the votes were counted and the result was as follows:
Void – 1
Babatunde Seun (Accounting) – 3 Votes
Akinbolade Damilola (OTM) – 42 Votes.
The DRSA, Mr.Adekoya Seun announced Akinbolade Damilola as the winner of the welfare director II election after which the speaker declared Akinbolade Damilola the Welfare Director II (Isolo Campus), Laspotech.
A 5 minutes’ recess was given by the speaker, Hon. Balogun Temidayo before the commencement of the election of the Majority and Minority leaders and then the appointment of principal officers.
After the break period elapsed, the Hon. Speaker declared Hon. Olanloye Isreal the unopposed winner of the Minority Leader election.
The aspirants for the Majority Leader seat Hon. Bello Jamiu from the department of Quantity Survey gave his speech to open the floor then his opponent, Hon. Oshuntunyi Irewande from the department of Marketing, HND 2 gave her speech at the later.
There was a total of 48 accredited voters/honorable and below is the result of the casted votes:
VOID – 3
Hon. Bello Jamiu – 26
Hon. Oshuntunyi Irewande – 17
Hon. Bello Jamiu was then declared as the Majority Leader of the SRC 2018/2019 academic session by the speaker. He gave a thanksgiving speech to the honorable and further promised to keep every of his manifesto promises.

The speaker appointed the following honorables into various principal offices.

Hon. Adeniyi Ridwan of School of Agriculture as Special Service I

Hon. Adekoya Olamilekan of School of Pure and Applied Sciences as Special Service II

Hon. Oshuntuyi Irewande of School of Management and Business Studies as Protocol Chairman

Hon. Daramola Eniola of School of Engineering as Clerk
The oath office was read to all elected and appointed members of the SRC, and they were sworn into office by the Chief Justice, Hon. Justice Teslim Abiodun.

Oyebamiji Emmanuel is an HND2 student in the School of Engineering. He is the present Faculty Rep. and sub-editor for the School of Engineering in Laspotech Press Club

NELFUND: LASUSTECH Receives ₦112M, Contradicting Initial ₦7.8M for 82 Students

By Habeeb Ibrahim     The Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has acknowledged the receipt of ₦112,057,000.00 (One Hundred and Twelve Million, Fifty-Seven Thousand Naira Only) from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).  The funds were allocated to 1,233 students under the NELFUND student loan program. This announcement contradicts an earlier statement by NELFUND, which indicated that only 82 LASUSTECH students would benefit from a total disbursement of ₦7,853,000.
