LASPOSUG: Management lifts ban on electoral activities

The Management of the Lagos State Polytechnic has lifted ban on her students’ union electoral activities for the 2018/2019 Academic Session.

As gathered from the Information and Public Relations Unit, electoral activities into various offices of the Students’ Union Executives, Legislative and Judicial arms have been approved to continue.

The management however, released tentative timetable for the election which is as follows:

Release of Nomination Forms/Lifting of Ban- 22nd June, 2018

Submission of Nomination Forms – 25th June – 6th July, 2018

Release of Screened Results / Appeals from Contestants- 6th-9th July, 2018

Electioneering campaigns - 29th June – 17th July, 2018

Manifesto Presentation - 18th July, 2018

Election/Declaration of Election Results- 19th July, 2018.

The offices open for election include; President, Vice President I, Vice President II, General Secretary, Asst. General Secretary, Financial Secretary, Public Relations Officer, Social Secretary, Welfare Officer (Ikorodu Campus), Welfare Officer (Isolo Campus), Sport Secretary, Treasurer, Speaker, Deputy Speaker and Chief justice.

Tragic Accident Claims Lives of Two LASUSTECH Students in Ikorodu

By Habeeb Ibrahim, Odeyemi Ibukun and Bisiriyu Hassan The Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Ikorodu, community is mourning the loss of two of its students following a fatal accident on Saturday morning at Powerline Junction, before Aleje, inward Ikorodu Roundabout, Lagos. The deceased students have been identified as: Ayomide Jagun , 300 Level, Mechatronics Afọlábí Emmanuel , 200 Level, Banking and Finance (Direct Entry) According to eyewitnesses, the accident involved a sand-laden tipper truck, a Toyota Corolla, a multi-purpose bus, and several tricycles. Preliminary reports indicate that the tipper, reportedly speeding, suffered a brake failure, causing it to collide with other vehicles along the busy road. Security Operatives walk out Zenith Bank representatives from Classroom Safiu Kehinde Security Operatives attached to the School of Management and Business Studies (SMBS) allegedly walked out some representatives of Zenith bank from classroom earlier today. The incident which happened at the HND1 class of the Department of Business Administration, saw the representatives blowing hot at one of the security operatives who was also visibly hostile to them. During the face-off, one of the embarrassed representatives was heard mentioning “freedom of expression” as she walked past the security operatives.
