LASUSTECH students share mixed opinions on Bobrisky's Best Dressed Female Award

By Oluwanifemi Adeyemi And Faith Mcakinsajijo

"I love my sisterhood no cap! But e get some haters among them. Una dey claim real women blah blah but I won hands down! Who come be the real woman now? Don't play! "

The above statement was made by controversial Nigerian crossdresser Idris Okuneye, popularly known as Bobrisky, after he was awarded the best dressed female at the premier of the movie 'Ajakaju: The beast of two worlds'.

While some people expressed their displeasure about this turn of events, others however, are in support of the decision made. Here is what people have to say about the issue.

Mohammed Balikis, a student of Mass Communication department, Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), said, "They should not have given him the award because there are other women out there who deserved it. He did not deserve it, after all, he is a male not a female."

Akande Oluwatobiloba, a resident of Lambo Lasunwo community also said that, " Giving him the best dressed female award is an abuse and embarrassment to the women in our society. It is not encouraging for the generation to come".

Adebisi Ayomikun, a student of Mass Communication department, however said that, " Nobody complained when he was dressing as a female and they were also selling the clothes to him. Now that he collected the award I don't think there should be any problem. Nobody can blame him".

Omobolanle Adenike, also a student of LASUSTECH said, " Everybody saw the way he was doing before and how he was acting like a girl from day one, but no one said anything about that. Now, because of the 1 million naira he won everyone is going against him, it's not fair. They should better leave his money for him and not spoil his win because he's the best".

Recalled that the moment Bobrisky was given the award, the notorious musician/entertainer, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly referred to as portable said, " Na so I hear say dem give Bobrisky best female dressed of the year for movie. Shey na woman? No be artificial? Bobrisky na man".

He also went ahead to ridicule Bobrisky in his diss track saying, " Warn brotherhood, if he comes to my hood, if he comes dressed as sisterhood, he'll be dealt with, with firewood".
