ISA Inaugurates New Executives

Ikorodu Students Association; (ISA) inaugurates third set of executives and presented honorary awards which took place at the Oba Ayangbure Palace, Ikorodu.

The event was held to mark the ending of a regime and to welcome a new era by inaugurating new executives to continue the legacy of the association. The event also recognized the efforts of some of the outgoing executives and members by presenting them awards as a sign of appreciation.

The event was graced by some prominent individuals; including the commissioner for Youth and Social affairs; Honorable Mobolaji Ogunlede who spoke on his excitement to be among the youths and his people.

Also representing Ikorodu Local Government Chairman, Hon. Wasiu Adeshina was the Chief of staff to the Ikorodu Local Government Chairman, Hon. Oluwatosin Mabumi. He expressed how happy he was to the students regarding their resilience in taking the association to the next level. He also advised them not to be far from the local government as the chairman has positive plans for the youths including their bursary.

During the Panel segment, titled “The journey beyond the school walls”, the moderator, Miss Toluwabori Adeshina,  posed the question, “Who is to be blamed for a child’s outcome?”.

Responding to this, a teacher, Prince Adesola Elemuren, explained that the home is the first unit of contact as children tend to learn their first values in the home, so any attitude a child is portraying is learned from home.

Barrister Adeleke Arowoyehun, a member of the panel also explained that students shouldn’t just focus on having formal education as learning a vocation also helps. He explained that most graduates now earn a living with their vocations and are doing extremely well. He emphasized on being competent in any vocation you choose.

Mr Samuel Abdulazeez Soyiga, a member of the panel also contributed by saying he joined politics even after studying another course completely. He explained further by saying he loves politics as politics is power. 

President of NAIDS, Olamide Ogunjimi and the Chief of Staff of Ikorodu Local Government, Hon. Oluwatosin Mabumi presented the awards to the awardees. 

After that, the new executives were called upon to take up their new posts.
The new president elect - Toba Dosunmu , Vice President - Oluwatosin Maggie, the General Secretary - Arogundade Ridwanullahi , Assistant General Secretary - Makanjuola Khairat, P.R.O 1 - Oshineye Rofiah, PRO 2 - Tohir Oshoala, Social Director - Sanni Khashiat, Treasurer - Fakunmoju Oluwaseyn, Financial Secretary - Ogunpehin Oluwasegun, Welfare - Akerele Elijah, Sport director- Sanni Murisiku , and Director of studies - Oruku Jelilat.

The outgoing president; Adejuwon Ismaeel Olarigbigbe also gave his outgoing speech and advised the new executives to dispense their duties right and also to serve the association with integrity and transparency.

The new executives then took the oath of office and were given certificates of honor and the event was concluded.
Interview with the Outgoing president; Adejuwon Ismaeel, He explained that he was pleased with the inauguration of the new set of executives as it was done in a legal process of voting and this same process was done to him. He also expressed his happiness as the incoming president; Toba Dosunmu has always been his friend and he has always been helping Ikorodu students indigenes, so he loved that he had been elected as the president of the association because he knows he will always have the interest of the people at heart.

Interview with the Incoming President; Toba Dosunmu, He said :"I feel I need to bring in new development and rebrand a lot of things about Ikorodu because we are lacking in terms of social vibes so this is time to integrate that into our cultural advancement . For me to have greater goals, I've been able to align and integrate with the goals of the sustainable development goals. I decided to create IDG which means Ikorodu Development Goals. This goals will facilitate our inspiration and vision for a greater ikorodu as I have said during my campaign"

NELFUND: LASUSTECH Receives ₦112M, Contradicting Initial ₦7.8M for 82 Students

By Habeeb Ibrahim     The Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has acknowledged the receipt of ₦112,057,000.00 (One Hundred and Twelve Million, Fifty-Seven Thousand Naira Only) from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).  The funds were allocated to 1,233 students under the NELFUND student loan program. This announcement contradicts an earlier statement by NELFUND, which indicated that only 82 LASUSTECH students would benefit from a total disbursement of ₦7,853,000. The development was disclosed in a letter signed by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olumuyiwa Omotola Odusanya, and addressed to the Managing Director/CEO of NELFUND.  "The institution acknowledges the receipt of payment of ₦112,057,000.00 for 1,233 students who applied for the NELFUND student loan program," Prof. Odusanya stated in the letter. 100 Level Defeats 200 Level Mass Communication Students 4-3

By Habeeb Ibrahim & Doyinsola Akinfenwa Photos By: Ajide Muminat  100 level student of the department of Mass Communication, Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH ) beat their 200 level counterpart by 4-3 goal at a novelty Match.  The match which was played at the ikorodu Campus of the school was organised by Peripasa a non governmental organisation. Both team played a 1-1 draw at the end of regulation time that resulted in penalty kick. The 200 level student opened score in the second half of the keenly contested match, while the 100 level student equalised just at the nick of time to drag the game into penalty kick. Salvador Idris, Kazeem Gafar, Akinde Marvelous, Azeez Mubarak And Oluebube Adewale played the penalty shoot-out for 200 level student with 3 penalty goals while Okedoyin Gabriel, Ogunlade Toluwalope, Adebayo Feranmi, Olakunle Rafiu And Shokoua Opemipo played the penalty shoot-out  for 100 level players with 4 penalty...
