LASPOSUE In Financial Mess Over N1million Stolen From Coffers as Indicted Welfare Director, Denies Allegation, Audio Evidence

The Lagos State Polytechnic Student Union Executive is in the news again for the wrong reasons. This time around, it has to do with a more serious financial crime unlike they had formerly. Rumours has it that over 1million was alleged to have disappeared into private pockets of some executives

Recall that on Saturday,14th of April, 2018, information gathered alleged that Comr. Adeyemi, the welfare director was alleged to have embezzled N200,000 meant to cater for the welfare of students in Isolo and Ikorodu campus

SUG President, Jubril Adewale

The LaspoSue 2017/2018  which is famous for internal rangling, misappropriation of funds, Illegal commercialization of SUG properties and general incompetence in protecting the Student's welfare.

Recall that Comr. Adeyemi was suspended months ago due to abuse of office by the president, Jubril, though the decision was thereafter reversed and he continue to perform his duties.

Students of the Lagos State polytechnic have begun to wonder why an administration which hasn’t gotten to a year has started pointing fingers of several corrupt practices at each other. It would be recalled that months ago. It was Com. Adeyemi that made the news as he  was said to have been suspended due to abuse of office, even though he was still seen performing his duties in union up till this moment.

At first no one believed the allegations levelled against a man who many refer to as 'The man of the people' putting into consideration his electioneering campaign promises coupled with how he was always spotted at the school gate to canvass for votes from students On daily basis. How much has he fared in his mission to bring succour to his fellow students who he promised heaven and earth, what level of trust do they have for him?.
SUG Welfare Director, Adeyemi Wasiu

LASPOTECHPRESSCLUB in its mission to ensure a fair and objective report reached out to the accused, Adeyemi to hear his own side of the Story  following an audio recording of his confession released on the social media . In the said audio, the indicted welfare director disclosed that he wasn't the only one involved in the financial misappropriation.

While speaking to Laspotechpressclub during a phone conversation, Adeyemi made it known that the allegation of embezzlement is false and should be disregarded as he claimed it was only meant to blackmail him. Adeyemi denied he wasn't the one speaking in the audio recording which flew into the air and refuting the claims that he did not embezzle the  sum of two hundred thousand naira which he was earlier accused of stealing and that he do not know how they came about the allegation.

In his words " That wasn't me talking in the audio, it's a fraud. How did they come about two hundred thousand naira. I play my role as the welfare director. The money I realize from my office including sponsorship is used for the welfare of the students and they are the ones that need to be scrutinized", he said.

He further  revealed that the President Of the union, Jubril, the PRO, Semiu Quadri Balogun, and the General Secretary, Segun took a whopping N312,000 out of the N512,000 approved for the SUG league, giving the Sport director just N200,000 to execute the project.

Interestingly, he claimed to also feed 6 students daily, helped some asthma patients, pay for shuttle of some students whose names are unknown .

However, in a whatsapp conversation with the indicted, he spoke on how the SUG President, Jubril, SUG PRO, Semiu Quadri Balogun and the General Secretary, Segun embezzled over N1Million.

In his analysis,

N300k-fund for Students ID cards covering 1000 students

N300k- fund for the SUG League

N40k- sponsorship from GTBank which the president said it was used to settle cultist

N50k- donation from School Management in compensation of our job done well for Ambode

N50k- Donation from Alumni program

N200k- For other miscellaneous

N40k- withdrawn for banner which was later not done, embezzled by PRO and his caucus

While speaking with an Insider whose name is being mopped as part of those involved in carting away money with Adeyemi, he revealed that the SUG is highly corrupt and everyone of them is involved.

He made it known that though he was part of Adeyemi's campaign team but he wasn't part of the money laundering as he isn't part of the welfare team

"So I stand on my oath of offices as the pro of my faculty which is the mouthpiece of the faculty to always voice out the truth no matter how the circumstance may warrant me that am not involved in any embezzlement if am I won't be leaking out their secret on a daily basis"

He further revealed that the SUG has spent an amount of N2million without any budget approval by the SRC and also gave the break down

Below is the breakdown of the N2million plus

Laspo league.   512,000

Orientation.        512,000

Provision of idcard 600,00

Valentine's fiesta 300,000

Questions raised now are why Is it only Adeyemi, is he the only corrupt comrade and does this mean the rest are saints. This is a person who was said to have been suspended and later reinstated and now accused of embezzling funds, who are the students he feeds on daily basis which he claim he does not know any of  their names, no proves to justify this, who are the asthma patients, where is the banner the SUE claimed to have done? No doubt the SUE is being led by cabals. We can only liken them to 'SUE of corruption'

We urge you all to keep your fingers crossed as we are working tirelessly to unfold more truth and dig out lies that have been told by this mighty student union Government who are always staging funny dramas on daily basis rather than embracing their responsibilities and serving the students judiciously. Let's all wait and see what will be the end of this crisis rocking the Union.
