Mass Communication Department Wins Deans Cup --- Mathematics & Statistics Department also Defeats Computer Science to Win the College Dean's Cup

The department of Mass Communication, Lagos State University of Science and Technology’s College of Applied Social Science concluded the 2023/2024 Dean's Cup football tournament with a victorious win, while the Mathematics and Statistics department triumphed over the Computer Science department to win the Dean's Cup of the College of Basic Science.

The final match, held at the university’s sports complex, saw the Mass Communication team defeat the Accountancy department 3-1.

The match, was graced by notable figures including Dr. Abiola Lawal, the Sports Director and Head of the Banking and Finance Department, and Dr. Zannu Prosper, Head of the Mass Communication Department.


The Accountancy department struck first, scoring a goal in the first half, which intensified the pressure on the Mass Communication team and their supporters. However, Mass Communication staged a remarkable comeback in the second half. Roqeeb Akinola (Larry), assisted by Gabriel Okeodoyin (Gabock), scored the equalizer. This was followed by goals from Salvador Idris and Ajayi Rafiu, the latter assisted by Wasiu Bakare (Okada Wa), who was named Man of the Tournament.

The victory was met with jubilation from Mass Communication supporters, marking a significant achievement for the team. Dr. Abiola Lawal presented the trophy to the winning team’s captain, Ogunlade Toluwalope (Tee Pasta), congratulating them on their well-deserved triumph. 

He also addressed the Accountancy students, encouraging them to remain calm and reminding them that failure is not the end of everything.

Mr. Olatayo Agogo, a lecturer from the Mass Communication department, extended his congratulations to the students and announced that the department would organize a celebration to honor their victory.

In a related development, the College of Basic Science also held their final match on the same day. The Mathematics and Statistics department triumphed over the Computer Science department with a 4-2 victory after a 1-1 draw in regular play.

The win marked a triumphant end to the 2023/2024 Dean's Cup tournament for the Mass Communication department, showcasing their determination and skill on the field.

LASUSTECH Students, NANS Meet Baale Over Death of Colleague, Housing, and Electricity Issues
