Lagos State Polytechnic in conjunction with the Center of Entrepreneurship and Skills Acquisition (CESA) recently held a concert that brought together students from various departments of the polytechnic. 

The concert, held at the school’s entrepreneurship auditorium, showcased the talents of the students and underscored the importance of practical skills alongside theoretical knowledge.

The Polytechnic’s full-time students kicked off the event with a praise and worship session, led by Olubusade Oluwafemi, a banking and finance student. 

The concert saw various performances, ranging from gospel to contemporary music, with notable acts such as Mr. Olufesobi, a renowned musician and instrumentalist. 

Students expressed their enthusiasm for the platform provided by the event, allowing them to showcase their talents and connect with peers.

Olufemi Sowetun, who represented the Director of CESA, Engineer TundeA desina highlighted the institution's commitment to practical education and the significance of the concert as a platform for students to showcase their acquired skills.


"CESA  is not just about teaching the students the theory aspect of the skills but also giving them the platform to practice what they have learnt and that is the basics of the concert". He said.

Also in the attendance was Lagos State University of Science and Technology, Public Relations Officer, Dr. Olarenwaju Kuye who expressed his satisfaction on the event.

“ I am very happy with the program and how the students were participating, this is better than hooliganism.

“I spoke a female student playing the instrument and she said everything she is playing today is what she learnt from the entrepreneurship learning, that is good of her rather than engaging in some unlawful act”. He expressed. 

He disclosed that the entrepreneurship program is not coming to end as the school has been transmuted to a University and the University students will continue in skills acquisition.

Mr. Adeyemi Titus, the host of the event, expressed his frustration with the instrumentalists who arrived late and were unprepared, resulting in a one-hour delay. 



This breach of agreement led to a confrontation between Mr. Titus and the instrumentalists, emphasizing the significance of ethical behavior.

The program, which commenced around noon, began with an address by Mr. Adeyemi Titus, who acknowledged the delay, apologized to the audience, and turned it into a learning experience by stating that "every delay is a blessing.

Mr. Adeyemi, the director of music, explained that the event served as a practical application of music skills learned during the semester. He highlighted how it boosted students' confidence and provided a foundation for their future endeavours.

The concert's  featured a special guest performance by Mr. Olufesobi and instrumentalist Mr. Bode Igbono. Their presence added further flair to the event, emphasizing the importance of musical skills and their universal appeal.



The CESA concert marked a successful showcase of polytechnic students' talents and entrepreneurial skills. It underscored the significance of practical education and provided a platform for students to shine, fostering an atmosphere of creativity, collaboration, and positive growth.

Students Barred from LASUSTECH First Gate Over Safety Concerns

By Habeeb Ibrahim and Adefeso Precious Students of the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) were on Monday morning restricted from accessing the campus through the First Gate, tagged as West Gate 1, due to safety concerns. The restriction led to confusion among students, who were subsequently directed by security personnel to use the Second Gate for entry into the campus. Speaking on the development, security officials disclosed that the action followed an incident that occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, when a tension wire was reportedly cut from a pole and fell directly at the entrance of First Gate. According to the security personnel, the fallen wire posed a potential risk of injury, electric shock, or sparks to students and other individuals passing through the gate.
