Lagos State Polytechnic’s Students Representative Council has, on Tuesday, ordered the removal of Lagos State University of Science and Technology's stickers from all Students Union Government’s properties previously bearing the Polytechnic’s name.

In a sitting presided over by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Asekun Elijah, the Council called for the return of LaspoSUG sticker following a memo issued to all Students Associations last month by the Directorate of Students Affairs.

As contained in the memo, Laspotech students were to stop using the letterhead of the new university in attempt to differentiate between the correspondence emanating from the Polytechnic students and the coming University students.

In reaction to the development, Rt. Hon Asekun Elijah called the attention of the honorable members of the council as he expressed his concern over likely challenges poised by the development.

His words: “Few weeks ago, there was a memo that all associations on campus should not make use of LASUSTECH as their letterhead again. For honorables and parliamentarians in the house, if care is not taken, what will become of us come next academic session?

“After much investigation, it must be noted that all buildings within the institution have been incurred by the state government as the possession of Lagos State University of Science and Technology. We need to start from somewhere. If we do not fight for it now, we stand to face a great challenge ahead.

“I will implore this great house after a deep thought to decide to retain what belongs to us. They have given us the Rector and the Vice Chancellor. But as we speak, we still have the stickers of Lagos State University of Science and Technology on some of our personal belongings.

“On this note, I will implore this great house to move a motion with immediate effect that all stickers that belong to Lagos State University of Science and Technology and on all students vehicles should be removed.” He said.

Following series of deliberation, the motion for the removal of LASUSTECH stickers was raised by by Hon. Moses and seconded by Hon. Azeez who stressed that the coming University students will make necessary changes themselves in due time.

“Let tomorrow take care of itself.” Hon. Azeez said.
