It was all fun and vibes as the National Union of Lagos State Students (LASPOTECH Chapter) celebrated the 10th season of LaspoCarnival.

The carnival which was held on Thursday saw good number of Nulassites trooped out in colours and costumes as they rallied across the campus.

Led by Obabinrin Mojisola Ajegbemi Macaulay and Oloja of Lagos representing Oba Kosoko, Prince Folajimi Kosoko, the rally took off from the school podium with brief stop by at the Directorate of Students Affairs, 700-seaters auditorium, and the library complex where the Deputy Vice Chancellor of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Dr. Kolawole Godonu, addressed the elated students on behalf of the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Olumuyiwa Odusanya whom he claimed to be on courtesy visit to some Obas in Ikorodu.

“Let me apologize on behalf of the Vice Chancellor. There are so many things on his table. This morning, he just went to see the Obas as there are son many things to attend to.” Dr. Godonu said.

He further commended the students for peaceful conduction of the rally while appreciating the royal guests for joining the celebration.

“I want to thank our elders who have come to join you in this celebration. You are very welcomed. I also want to thank you for the way you are going peacefully about this.” He added.

Also complimenting the rally were musical performances from guest artistes, Eyo masquerade, and Eegun Ishashi from Badagry.

Students Barred from LASUSTECH First Gate Over Safety Concerns

The restriction led to confusion among students, who were subsequently directed by security personnel to use the Second Gate for entry into the campus. Speaking on the development, security officials disclosed that the action followed an incident that occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, when a tension wire was reportedly cut from a pole and fell directly at the entrance of First Gate. LASUSTECH Announces February 13, 2027, for Maiden Convocation

By Adetoyinbo Berachah The Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has announced February 13, 2027, as the date for its maiden convocation. The announcement was made by the Director of Student Affairs (DSA), Dr. Ademola Aderogba, during the first engagement meeting of the 2025/2026 academic session. The meeting featured the introduction of Heads of Class (HOCs) and representatives from various departments. Dr. Aderogba addressed issues relating to the academic session and outlined expectations for students. He presented an overview of academic results across colleges and departments, noting variations in performance. Students were advised to ensure lecturers are invited for scheduled lectures. According to the DSA, all issues relating to academic results must be resolved before January 27, 2026, when the University Senate will review them.
