SUJC Symposium: Presidential Candidate calls for the inclusion of professional conduct and ethics into School Curriculum

The Presidential Candidate of Accord Party, Dr. Christopher Imumolem, has called for the inclusion of professional conduct and ethics into School Curriculum. He made the call while speaking at the Students Union Judiciary Council (SUJC) Annual Symposium of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) at Ikorodu, Lagos.

Dr. Imumolem identified professional conduct and ethics as virtues that enables students comport themselves.

“We advocate that schools should also include in its curriculum professional conduct, ethics, and good behavior. It is very important because Organic Chemistry, your Principle of Management may not teach you how to conduct yourself at every time.” He said.

In furtherance to his call for professional conduct and ethics inclusion to school curriculum, he charged the students to be of good conduct wherever they find themselves.

“Students should not identify themselves by ID Cards. By the way you comport yourself ordinarily should tell us that you are a student. Whenever you are asked anywhere to identify yourself as a student with you ID Card, let it become an insult to you. That means you have not conducted yourself properly.” He added

Meanwhile, relating with the theme of the event, “Legal Education: An Imperative of Youth Liberation and Social Justice”, Dr. Imumolem emphasized on the need for students to know their rights and how best to apply it- particularly right to freedom of expression, while also calling for the need for students to understand the law and its interpretation.

“Even though we have right to freedom of expression, we must understand how to deliver our complaint professionally without insulting the authority. We have the right, but it must come with decency. There is no organization without a complain, but we must know how to channel our complaint rightfully.”

“Let’s begin to have new breed of students who understands this law, yet know its interpretation.” He added

The event hosted by the SUJC Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Adeniyi Emmanuel, also saw the presence of otable dignitaries which include former Head of Service, Lagos State, Prince Ogunlewe, NEM Insurance Plc. Mrs. Bolanle Baruwa, Nollywood Film Maker and Movie Director, Sola Kosoko, and the Director of Students Affairs, Tpl. Oladayo Ibrahim

NELFUND: LASUSTECH Receives ₦112M, Contradicting Initial ₦7.8M for 82 Students

By Habeeb Ibrahim     The Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has acknowledged the receipt of ₦112,057,000.00 (One Hundred and Twelve Million, Fifty-Seven Thousand Naira Only) from the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND).  The funds were allocated to 1,233 students under the NELFUND student loan program. This announcement contradicts an earlier statement by NELFUND, which indicated that only 82 LASUSTECH students would benefit from a total disbursement of ₦7,853,000.
