NANS Lagos Vice Chairman Awards Tuition Scholarships to Five LASUSTECH Students

The Vice Chairman of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Lagos State, Comrade Sadiq Adams (Kiakia), has awarded tuition fee scholarships to five students of the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH).

The beneficiaries are Adenola David Oluwafemi (Quantity Surveying, 200 level), Salami Priscilla Wuraola (Estate Management, 200 level), Wekpa ThankGod Nelson (Mass Communication, 400 level), Rantilola Olamide Afsat (Mass Communication, 200 level), and Sadiq Olashile Mubarak. The students were selected based on merit and financial need.

Speaking on the initiative, Adams said the scholarship is part of NANS’ commitment to student development.
“Empowering students academically today is an investment in leadership, innovation, and national development tomorrow,” he said.

The beneficiaries described the scholarship as timely and supportive of their academic progress, noting that it would ease financial pressure and help them focus on their studies.

The President of the Mass Communication Students Association (MACSA), Comrade Jenrade Saheed Ololade, thanked the sponsor, saying, “This scholarship will enable the beneficiaries to concentrate better on their academics and justify the confidence placed in them.”

Also speaking, the President of the College of Environmental Design and Technology Students Association (CEDTSA), Shukurat Omotayo Lukman, said the fulfillment of the pledge demonstrated commitment to students’ welfare.
“We sincerely appreciate this gesture, which will significantly support the beneficiaries and encourage academic excellence,” she said.

A senior lecturer and staff adviser in the College of Environmental Design and Technology, Dr. Adhuze Olasunmbo, commended the initiative, noting that honoring such commitments motivates students.
“When students see that hard work is recognized, it encourages them and those coming behind to do better,” he said.

The Head of the Department of Mass Communication, Dr. Zannu Prosper, also praised the scholarship programme, describing it as a positive intervention that supports academic performance and student morale.

The scholarships were awarded at LASUSTECH as part of NANS Lagos State’s ongoing student support initiatives.

Students Barred from LASUSTECH First Gate Over Safety Concerns

The restriction led to confusion among students, who were subsequently directed by security personnel to use the Second Gate for entry into the campus. Speaking on the development, security officials disclosed that the action followed an incident that occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, when a tension wire was reportedly cut from a pole and fell directly at the entrance of First Gate. LASUSTECH Announces February 13, 2027, for Maiden Convocation

The announcement was made by the Director of Student Affairs (DSA), Dr. Ademola Aderogba, during the first engagement meeting of the 2025/2026 academic session. The meeting featured the introduction of Heads of Class (HOCs) and representatives from various departments. Dr. Aderogba addressed issues relating to the academic session and outlined expectations for students.
