NUC's Resources Verification Exercise Continues in LASUSTECH

The National Universities Commission (NUC) has continued its two-week Resource Verification Exercise in Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) today.

Following last week’s completion of two batches which,  according to LASUSTECH Newsflash,  saw the verification of seven programmes-B.Tech Computer Engineering, B.Eng. Civil & Construction Engineering, B.Eng. Electrical & Electronics Engineering, B. Tech Biotechnology & Food Technology, B.Eng. Mechanical Engineering, B. Eng. Mechatronics Engineering, and B. Eng. Agricultural Engineering, the regulatory body is set to extend the exercise across other programmes.

In similar version, this week’s exercise is divided into two batches with B.Sc. Agricultural Economics & Farm Management, B.Sc. Agricultural Extension & Rural Development , B.Sc. Crop Production, B.Sc. Horticulture & Landscape Management, B.Sc. Animal Production, and B.Sc. Aqua Culture & Fisheries Management falling into the third batch while B. Sc. Chemical Sciences, B.Sc. Mathematics Sciences, B.Sc. Computer Science, B.Sc Physics with Electronics, B.Sc. Biological Sciences, B.Sc. Mass Communication, B.Sc. Accounting, B.Sc. Banking & Finance, B.Sc. Actuarial Science, and B.Sc. Economics  all fall into the last batch.

Both batches are  scheduled for 25th-27th  and 28th-30th  September respectively after which the school awaits result from the NUC.

Speaking on the essence of the exercise, LASUSTECH’s Public Relations Officer, Dr. Olanrewaju Kuye, stated that the exercise is mandatory for every new Universities without which admission of new students will be impossible.

“No new university can admit students or be called a university if the National Universities Commission do not  do resources verification. This implies that they want to see what you have on ground to determine if you can admit students; to determine if you can be a university indeed.” He said

Students Barred from LASUSTECH First Gate Over Safety Concerns

By Habeeb Ibrahim and Adefeso Precious Students of the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) were on Monday morning restricted from accessing the campus through the First Gate, tagged as West Gate 1, due to safety concerns. The restriction led to confusion among students, who were subsequently directed by security personnel to use the Second Gate for entry into the campus. Speaking on the development, security officials disclosed that the action followed an incident that occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, when a tension wire was reportedly cut from a pole and fell directly at the entrance of First Gate. According to the security personnel, the fallen wire posed a potential risk of injury, electric shock, or sparks to students and other individuals passing through the gate.
