  2022 SUG Cup: MACSA defeats Banking and Finance to advance to the Semi-Final Safiu Kehinde Mass Communication Students Association (MACSA) had the last laugh yesterday as they grabbed a resounding 3-0 victory over Banking and Finance to qualify for Semi-Final stage. First half opener from Bello Abdulrasaq and second half brace from Olayanju Sina saw the Communicators past the stubborn Banking and Finance. Abdulrasaq put the team into lead after a thorough pass from his teammate before slotting the ball past the opponent’s goalkeeper. Before halftime, MACSA was awarded a free kick, which was converted by Fajumobi Oluwamuyiwa, following a hard tackle from the opponent. The goal, which hit the woodwork before rebounding out of the net, was disallowed following a disagreement between both teams. 2022 SUG Cup: Computer Science earns Semi-Final spot after four goals trashing of Crop Production Technology Safiu Kehinde The Department of Computer Science has earned a spot in the Semi-Final following a   4-0 trashing of Crop Production Technology at the ongoing SUG Cup. Following a dominant display, Awolesi Adeola’s brace and two other goals ensured Computer Science scale through to the last four in style. The game started on a brighter note for the team in green as they   secured an early lead in the first half. Both teams were, however, at loggerhead after the goal till the blow of the halftime whistle. Few minutes into the second half, Computer Science found the back of the net to double the lead, but the goal was claimed to be offside, leading to a long delay before the referee finally awarded the goal.   Society of Nigerian Artists call for entries ahead of Art Exhibition Safiu Kehinde The Society of Nigerian Artists (Lagos State Chapter) has called for the submission of entries ahead her annual art exhibition. Tagged “October Rain 2022”, the categories of entries for the exhibition include ceramics, sculpture, textile, painting, graphics, mixed media installation, photography, digital arts, just to mention a few. The entire submission, according to an e-flyer made available by the association, is scheduled to close on the 30th of June 2022 while all works are expected to be completed, signed, packaged, and submitted to collection centre on or before 31st of July, 2022. Also known as Ilya du Lacost, the kegites, with their cups and calabashes filled with holy water , danced in circles as gyration orchestrated by a veteran singer, who is regarded as cricket- in Kegites parlance, rented the air. According to Chief Salisu Yusuf, the head of Ilya du Lacost, the “tapping day”, which takes place every Wednesday, is a day dedicated for merrymaking and celebration of African culture by the Kegites. “We promote African culture by drinking of palm wine, singing of songs, and dancing among ourselves. Sodiq Adam, has decried the wrong mentality of students and youths as regards political participation. In his speech during a Press Conference held at the School of Environmental Studies Lecture Hall, the Majority Leader lamented over the poor engagement of students in politics. “This is to let you know that many Nigerian youths, especially students, have wrong mentality towards political participation. This include coverage of its activities, educating members (students) on the performance and activities of the SUG and the students representative council. While narrating her experience at the Students Union Judiciary Council Symposium last week, the actress revealed how she nearly missed her bus, but her frantic wave at the moving bus caught the attention of the driver who halted for her. “…I waved and the bus stopped for me. I ran into the bus and just went straight to sit. It was getting close to where I will get off the bus so I asked the driver, ‘Please I am going to so so so Bus-stop.
