NTBE ACCREDITATION TEAM STORM LAGOS STATE POLYTECHNIC

The National board of technical education (NTBE) has been commended for its role in supporting and moderating the activities of polytechnics and technical colleges in Nigeria.

The commendation came from the Rector of Lagos State Polytechnic, Mr Samuel Olayinka Sogunro in a briefing while welcoming the NBTE accreditation team to the polytechnic for the accreditation exercise.

"I am aware of the immense support NBTE has given to polytechnics across Nigeria and most especially Lagos State polytechnic This support has further made it possible for our Polytechnic to compete favourably in academic setting." The Rector said.

The Rector further noted that the exercise is historic as it coincides with the 40th anniversary of the polytechnic. He told the accreditation team that the Lagos State Polytechnic was ready for them in terms of human and academic resources adding that the institution deserves new streams. He said 67 programmes were listed for the accreditation exercise.

He was however of the opinion that the accreditation exercise would further push Laspotech forward as one of the best Polytechnics in Nigeria.

Meanwhile, the leader of the NBTE accreditation team, Mr Garba Ibrahim said the purpose of accreditation is to access the facilities on ground and not to witch hunt.

" Our aim is to set standard among the polytechnics in Nigeria" he stressed.
He said the Polytechnic community should be friendly during the exercise.

He commended the management for its hospitality and it's vision with the state government to move the institution forward.

The schools being visited are, School of engineering, School of Technology, School of Communication and Liberal Studies, School of Pure and Applied Science, School of Management and Business Studies, School of Agriculture and School of Environmental studies.

Students Barred from LASUSTECH First Gate Over Safety Concerns

The restriction led to confusion among students, who were subsequently directed by security personnel to use the Second Gate for entry into the campus. Speaking on the development, security officials disclosed that the action followed an incident that occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, when a tension wire was reportedly cut from a pole and fell directly at the entrance of First Gate. LASUSTECH Announces February 13, 2027, for Maiden Convocation

The announcement was made by the Director of Student Affairs (DSA), Dr. Ademola Aderogba, during the first engagement meeting of the 2025/2026 academic session. The meeting featured the introduction of Heads of Class (HOCs) and representatives from various departments. Dr. Aderogba addressed issues relating to the academic session and outlined expectations for students. He presented an overview of academic results across colleges and departments, noting variations in performance. Students were advised to ensure lecturers are invited for scheduled lectures.
