LASUSTECH Wins NFVCB Content Creation Challenge

  By Hassan Bisiriyu and Gabriel Suraju Students from the Department of Mass Communication, Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) yesterday, won the National Film and Video Censors Board (NFVCB) Capacity Building Challenge, defeating contenders from other institutions. The event, held at Afe Babalola Hall, University of Lagos (UNILAG), featured students from leading institutions including UNILAG, Lagos State University (LASU), Trinity University, and Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH).  LASUSTECH’s Agbonware Favour emerged as the overall winner, receiving a cash prize of ₦100,000. While her colleague, Williams Peniel, placed sixth and won ₦25,000. The programme, tagged Media Literacy and Capacity Building, included training sessions on filmmaking disciplines such as directing, cinematography, acting, and screenwriting. JIL-2024 CONCLUDES AS PARTICIPANTS BAG CERTIFICATES, AWARDS

  By ThankGod Wekpa No fewer than 500 students across five Lagos State owned Tertiary Institutions have bagged   certificates of participation and awards of exceptional performance at the grand finale of the 2024 edition of the Job Initiative Lagos(JIL) training programme. The grand finale which took place on Tuesday, 12th November, 2024 at the Adeyemi-Bero Auditorium, Lagos State Secretariat, Alausa, Ikeja, came after a 3-week intensive training of the students on job readiness for the 21st century job market. The programme ran for 3 consecutive Saturdays at the LASUSTECH, Ikorodu and  LASUED, Ijanikin training centres beginning from 26th October to 9th November, 2024. It was put together by the Lagos State government through its Ministry of Tertiary Education in collaboration with the Greendrive Resources Limited. Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), today  won the 3rd Inter-University Debate, organized by the Africa Foundation for Young Media Professionals at the Centre for Management and Development (CMD), Magodo Lagos.  Competing against Lagos State University (LASU) and Yaba College of Technology (YABATECH), LASUSTECH emerged victorious, with LASU taking second place while YABATECH took the third position. LASUSTECH's Mass Communication Department Donates Over ₦ .5 Million Books to School Library

This includes an additional 35 academic books and journals to the College of Applied Social Sciences, along with further resources to the university library. The donation is aimed at supporting the accreditation process and fostering a culture of reading and intellectual development among students. Dr. Steven Anu’ Adesemoye, Acting Head of the Mass Communication Department, emphasized the importance of reading for both academic and professional growth. SSA to Governor Sanwo-Olu Advocates Youth Mentorship at Imota Ayayo Lecture Day
