LASUSTECH's Mass Communication Department Donates Over ₦ .5 Million Books to School Library

The Department of Mass Communication at Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has donated a collection of 47 academic journals and books to the university library in preparation for the National Universities Commission (NUC) accreditation.

This includes an additional 35 academic books and journals to the College of Applied Social Sciences, along with further resources to the university library. The donation is aimed at supporting the accreditation process and fostering a culture of reading and intellectual development among students.

Dr. Steven Anu’ Adesemoye, Acting Head of the Mass Communication Department, emphasized the importance of reading for both academic and professional growth. "Book reading is a vital component in Mass Communication. It expands vocabulary, enhances critical thinking, and improves writing skills," he said. 

He noted that the department, in collaboration with the university library, is committed to providing ongoing access to current print and online resources, ensuring students have access to high-quality materials. 

Dr. Adesemoye encouraged students to explore various genres, from fiction and biographies to classics, to become informed and effective communicators.

University Librarian Dr. Yussuf Kuburat expressed appreciation for the Mass Communication department’s generous donation, which will also be available at the college. 

"The more you read, the more intelligent, exposed, and confident you become," she said, urging students to take full advantage of the resources available to them. 

The library is open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on weekdays and from 12 p.m. to 6 p.m. on weekends, offering ample opportunities for students to utilize these materials.

The donation includes 35 books and journals for the College of Applied Social Sciences and 47 books and journals for the university library. 

Some notable titles include African Communication System by Abigail Odozi Ogwezzy and Security Reporting in Nigeria by Godfrey N. Danaan. These resources will be housed in both the university and college libraries for easy access by students and faculty. 

Through this initiative, the Mass Communication department aims to reinforce a reading culture that will equip students with the confidence and knowledge necessary for their academic success and future careers.

Students Barred from LASUSTECH First Gate Over Safety Concerns

The restriction led to confusion among students, who were subsequently directed by security personnel to use the Second Gate for entry into the campus. LASUSTECH Announces February 13, 2027, for Maiden Convocation

The announcement was made by the Director of Student Affairs (DSA), Dr. Ademola Aderogba, during the first engagement meeting of the 2025/2026 academic session. The meeting featured the introduction of Heads of Class (HOCs) and representatives from various departments. Dr. Aderogba addressed issues relating to the academic session and outlined expectations for students.
