LASUSTECH Vice Chancellor rolls out  6-Point Agenda, tagged IMPACT

The Vice-chancellor of Lagos State University of Science and Technology  (LASUSTECH), Professor Olumuyiwa Odunsanya, has rolled out six points agenda to bring about academic excellence in the institution. 

This was made known in a town hall meeting held at the school of Agriculture with the university’s members of staff.

According to him, IMPACT represents; Infrastructural development, Manpower, Productivity, and prosperity of students and staff, A strong university culture of academic excellence and research, a Catalyst for the development of Lagos state agenda, and Town and Industry partnership. These will form the basis for assessing the vice chancellor for the next five years 

“Lasustech must possess infrastructural development with core standard curriculums and educational facilities such as; Laboratory, Studio, among others. What must be done is to get funds from government, donations, and  endowment and as well make judicious use of funds.” Professor Olumuyiwa said.

He further stated that manpower development is an agent for change and there is a need for the improvement of skills, and the provision of orientation workshops, which will be done with equity and transparency.

He also carved for the staff's indulgence in enabling a productive environment, which will be done by expanding health services and improving sports facilities. Also, a strong university culture of academic excellence and research entails training lecturers and students in new skills and Partnerships with Industries. 

Also, being a Catalyst for Lagos state agenda implies being a solutions provider, strengthening the step-by-step policy of the state,  teachers training, provide unique and updated solutions.

However, Town planning and industry planning entails Partnership with industries.  

He said “To be a top university, we must work with the community, industries begin to do joint development in the UK, you can't do without talking with Industry practitioners”

The vice chancellor assured that there is an open door policy for staff, and the institution’s core values are based on accountability and excellence. This will be achieved by paying attention to details, being resourceful through innovation, and providing solutions to problems in other to make the institution the most sought-after University in Nigeria.

Students Barred from LASUSTECH First Gate Over Safety Concerns

The restriction led to confusion among students, who were subsequently directed by security personnel to use the Second Gate for entry into the campus. Speaking on the development, security officials disclosed that the action followed an incident that occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, when a tension wire was reportedly cut from a pole and fell directly at the entrance of First Gate. LASUSTECH Announces February 13, 2027, for Maiden Convocation

The announcement was made by the Director of Student Affairs (DSA), Dr. Ademola Aderogba, during the first engagement meeting of the 2025/2026 academic session. The meeting featured the introduction of Heads of Class (HOCs) and representatives from various departments. Dr. Aderogba addressed issues relating to the academic session and outlined expectations for students.
