The founder of Trueflutter, Dare Olatoye, confirmed to have had four weddings from couples who met on the Online Dating App this year.

In an exclusive interview with Laspo Watch during the activation campaign for the App at Lagos State University of Science and Technology’s podium, Dare spoke on how the App deals with people who fakes their profile on dating apps while recounting the relationships that started on True Flutter and ended up in marriage.

“A lot of people needs validation from the public to make them feel good. You might meet people that are a bit fake, but you can also meet people that are real. We have had four weddings this year and those people met on our app with the reason being that they are real with each other.” He said.

Stressing further, Dare hammered on the need for people to portray their real self in the course of finding a suiting partner.

“ I do tell people that if you need a guy just tell him who you are as a person. It’s just about being able to manage expectations. Because when you manage your expectations, it is well refined and you can have a good relationship based on that “ He added.

Meanwhile, Dare revealed that the app, which was claimed to be the biggest in West Africa, has an audio bio-filter- a special feature that allows people to record their voice and allow others hear how their potential partner sounds like.

“True Flutter has a USP called Audio Bio-filter where you can record your voice; talk about yourself; and also introduce yourself on the app. When people check your profile, they won’t only see your picture. They can also listen to what you sound like.

“In this part of Africa, we tend to look at social class- middle class, lower class, and upper. You can tell by the way someone speaks if the person is educated or not and you can get attracted to that person, which is why we added that special feature.

“Right now, our app is the only dating app in the world that has that special features.” He said.

However, speaking on the perception of Nigerians about online dating apps and websites which most people perceive as medium of promoting ‘hookups’, Dare debunked such view about Trueflutter, stressing that the app is against such.

“We are a different kind of dating app. We don’t promote hookups and we don’t promote fraud. We are against them. And because we are on ground, we can easily detect such and deactivate the account. We have some special feature that when we deactivate the account, you can’t use that same phone to use that app again unless you buy a new phone.

“We are basically anti-online fraud or anti-catfishing. We shy away from that.” He said.

Meanwhile, Dare stressed that the world has evolved through technology and open to several possibilities including finding love virtually.

“I keep telling people that technology can help you find love and Trueflutter is here to solve that problem.” He added.
