COVID-19 : LASPOTECH suspends second semester exams indefinitely

The Lagos State Polytechnic has suspended it's second semester examinations indefinitely following the resurgence of the novel coronavirus. This was confirmed in an interview with the school's public relations officer, Mr Kuye.  The HND 1 and 2 second semester examinations which commenced on December 7th has now been postponed indefinitely. This is coming few hours after the Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu ordered the closure of schools in the state following the increase in Covid-19 cases.  The coronavirus disease, which was first recorded in Wuhan, China  in 2019, is a communicable respiratory disease caused by a new strain of coronavirus that causes illness in humans. Nigeria has over 70, 000 recorded cases of the virus, with Lagos State having over 28, 000 confirmed cases. Edwin Eriye 

LASPOTECH ANNULS 20/21 SUG ELECTION

The Management of Lagos State Polytechnic has ruled for the annulment of the Student Union Government election that took place on Friday, 4th of December, 2020. Prior to the events that occurred during the election and alleged accusations of corruption and violence, the institution has decided to cancel all election results.  The management also assured the candidates and students that another election will take place online next year after the final examination. This will be Lagos State Polytechnic's first ever online election. It was also revealed that students will be able to vote from their online portal. We wish the candidates best of luck in the future examination and all laspotians good luck in this forthcoming examination.

The election which began at exactly 8:30 am across several departments in the school ended by 1:30pm. ASUP Moves To Restore Arm In LASPOTECH

Members of the Academic Staff Union of Polytechnics (ASUP), Lagos State Polytechnic Chapter have resolved to withdraw all legal issues in court towards resuscitating the union.  This was disclosed by a former scribe of the union, Comrade Abiola Lawal, at the emergency meeting of the resuscitated union at the Ikorodu Campus.  The ASUP Chairman of the Polytechnic, Akinrinlola Ibitoye, in an interview with Press Club, noted that the Union was never cancelled nor proscribed.  The Chairman explained that during a congress in November, 2017, some aggrieved members of the Union, who were reported for wrongdoings, 'ganged up and unconstitutionally had their ways.'
