LASUSTECH Hosts Mentorship Programme for Female Students

The Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) held a mentorship programme for its female students on Wednesday at the 500-seater auditorium, College of Agriculture.

The event was hosted by Professor Olubunmi Temilade Abebi, Chairperson of the Sexual Harassment Committee and a lecturer in the College of Agriculture, alongside nine other lecturers, including Mrs. Aribigbe, Head of the Mathematics Department, and Dr. (Mrs.) Olubiyi Olatokunbo, Deputy Registrar, Student Affairs Unit.

In her opening remarks, Professor Abebi welcomed the students and introduced the objectives of the programme, stating, "We are here to mentor you academically, spiritually, and in all aspects of life."

During an interactive session, Mrs. Aribigbe engaged the students on the concept of mentorship and shared her personal experiences, encouraging them to speak up against sexual harassment.

Professor Abel from the LASUSTECH Guidance and Counselling Unit addressed the students on the dangers of celebrating Valentine’s Day, advising them to prioritize safety and modesty.

The programme also included faith-based mentoring sessions. Professor Abebi led the Christian session, while Dr. (Mrs.) Agbatolaya from the College of Agriculture facilitated the Muslim session, emphasizing the importance of faith and focus.

Expressing her gratitude, Odoyinbo Tenire, a 100-level Mass Communication student, shared her key takeaways: "At this stage of our lives, we must remain focused and remove any distractions that can hinder our goals. I plan to apply everything I’ve learned today."

The mentorship programme provided female students with valuable academic and spiritual guidance, equipping them with the tools to navigate university life successfully.

LASUSTECH Students, NANS Meet Baale Over Death of Colleague, Housing, and Electricity Issues

Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) students, alongside the National Association of Nigerian Students Joint Campus Council (NANS JCC), met with the Baale and other community leaders to address urgent concerns following the tragic death of a student, Emmanuel Nweke.
