FEDSA-LASUSTECH Assembly Suspends President for One Week Over Misconduct

Habeeb Ibrahim  The It’s Federation of Epe Division Student Divisional Representative Council (FEDSA-DRC) of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has suspended its president, Obadina Habeeb, for one week following alleged misconduct during a parliamentary session. The decision was made during the second physical sitting of the assembly, held on Wednesday, 29th of January, 2025. The suspension, effective immediately, was initially proposed for two weeks by the Speaker, Rt. Hon. Edu Shaffi Oladehinde, and seconded by the Chief Press Secretary, Hon. Hassan Taiwo Bisiriyu.  However, Hon. Adelaja Azanat opposed the motion, advocating for a lighter punishment, which included a one-week suspension along with an apology letter. LASUSTECH Mass Comm Ladies to be Empowered with Free Business Courses

By Odelusi Abraham Jobberman has partnered with Arifu to offer free online business courses to Mass Communication ladies of the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), in a bid to equip female students with essential business skills. The courses will be available for both business owners and beginners who aspire to own their very own business. The courses will be available on Whatsapp through their phones. Dr. Steven Adesemoye, the HOD for mass communication department, Mrs Bridget Adegboye, a lecturer in the department , and other female students representing the boss ladies addressed the 100level mass communication students, in his words, Dr Steven mentioned that the courses were made free because they were "compulsory" for the semester. Islamic Cleric Advocates for Better Support and Leadership Development for Imams

The Chief Imam of the University of Lagos (UNILAG), Professor Ismail Musa, has called for enhanced support and leadership training for Imams to tackle contemporary challenges effectively. Professor Musa, who also serves as the Head of the Department of Religious Studies, made this call during a two-day workshop themed Training LASUSTECH Imams for Contemporary Challenges. The event was held on January 25 and 26, 2025, at the Ikorodu Campus of the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH). Professor Musa outlined the qualities, roles, and responsibilities of Imams in Nigerian tertiary institutions, emphasizing the need for time management and sustainable mosque management practices. “Time management is crucial for student Imams who must balance academics and religious duties,” he said. LASUSTECH Imams Trained to Tackle Contemporary Challenges in a 2-Day Workshop

LASUSTECH Strike: Academic Activities Unaffected, Says University PRO

By Hassan Bisiriyu and Habeeb Ibrahim  On Monday, January 6, 2025, the official resumption day for LASUSTECH students after the festive period, reports emerged of an ongoing strike by some staff unions, causing temporary disruption on campus. The gates of the institution were reportedly locked early in the day, leading to confusion among students and staff arriving for academic activities. Efforts by the Union of Campus Journalists (UCJ LASUSTECH) to investigate the situation revealed that the strike was being observed by non-academic staff. Speaking on the matter, Mr. Lanre Kuye, the Director of Public Relations and Information at LASUSTECH, he clarified that the strike involved non-academic staff, primarily junior staff, though some senior staff were also participating.
