 LASUSTECH Proposes 33 take-off programmes ahead of 2022/2023 Academic Session Safiu Kehinde Lagos State University of Science and Technology have revealed its proposed 33 take-off programmes ahead of the 2022/2023 Academic Session, as contained in The Nation newspaper publication yesterday. Signed by the Special Adviser on Education to the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Tokunbo Wahab, the proposed take-off programs cut across five colleges. Unlike the old Polytechnic institution which had seven schools, the new University institution would see the conversion of the seven schools into five colleges. As provided in the publication, the five colleges include the College of Engineering and Technology, College of Environmental Design and Technology, College of Basic Science, College of Applied Social Science, and College of Agriculture.   10 Changes to expect as LASPOTECH turns LASUSTECH Safiu Kehinde The approval of Lagos State Polytechnic’s transition to Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has been followed by an indeterminate number of changes. Earlier last week, we saw a change at the Institution’s realm of power where the Rector was changed by Lagos State Governor to  the Acting Vice Chancellor. Subsequent to this was a new twist in the school’s anthem as heard from the students during the World Radio Day celebration. These are part of the expected changes and there are more of it to come. LASUSTECH marks first event after transition, celebrates World Radio Day Safiu Kehinde In commiseration of the World Radio Day, Lagos State University of Science and Technology, yesterday, marked the first event to be held since its transition from Lagos State Polytechnic at 500-seaters auditorium. Themed “Radio and Trust”, the event was hosted by the Department of Mass Communication in collaboration with the United Nations Information Centre (UNIC) and United Nations Educational Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO). World Radio Day was proclaimed in 2011 by the Member States of UNESCO, and adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 2012 as an international Day with February 13 marked for its celebration. Honoring the event was the Acting Vice Chancellor of LASUSTECH, Dr. Oluremi Nurudeen Olaleye, represented by his Deputy, Mr. Kolawole Godonu. ( See pictures and watch video below) Safiu Kehinde The Students Union Judiciary Council (Lagos State Polytechnic Chapter) sworn-in new members of the jury at the Council's inaugural sitting held today at the office of the Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Adeniyi Emmanuel. The ceremony which was scheduled for 10:am started by 11:58am due to some delay and arrangements. Opening the event, the sitting Chief Judge, Hon. Justice Adeniyi Emmanuel, welcomed the members of the jury while introducing the invited guests in the person of erstwhile Chief Judges Mr. Abiola Abioye (2020/2021 session) and Mr. Teslim Abiodun ( 2018/2019 session). Rendering the opening speech, Mr. Teslim Abiodun urged the new members of the jury to be familiar with the constitution while emphasizing on the relevance of the SUJC. Lagos State Government approves two new Universities as LASPOTECH turns LASUSTECH

  Safiu Kehinde Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has made official the establishment of two new Universities in the state yesterday at Lagos House, Marina. Following the approval of the legislature, the state government assented the conversion of Lagos State Polytechnic (LASPOTECH) into Lagos State University of Science and Technology while Adeniran Ogunsanya College of Education ( AOCOED) and Michael Otedola College of Primary Education (MOCPED) were combined to form Lagos State University of Education. Speaking at the event, Sanwo-Olu expressed his delight over the new development which now sees Lagos boast of three State-owned Universities. “We are now blessed with two additional universities joining LASU established in 1982 by the first Executive Governor of Lagos State, the late Alhaji Lateef Jakande,” he said.
