CALL FOR EQUALITY

I remember clearly the first time i set foot on the Mass Communications department, Ikorodu campus, the first thing I saw was the list of the newly elected member of Mass Communication Student Association, MACSA. All was fine until I sighted in one corner a particular post, "LADY VICE PRESIDENT". This is not particular to mass communication department alone, but to all student associations in Lagos State Polytechnic.

This does not only abase the ideology of gender equality but celebrates gender bias;Quite demoralizing for young minds of the 21st century.

Over the past few years I have watched a lot of feminists who have summoned courage to fight for the female gender. While some females feel they are subordinates, domestic slaves, sex slaves etc., these set of people(feminists) have one single lyrics: equality for everyone.

Following the African background, one can only find reasons for difficulty in achieving equality among all. The background we all come from says other wise; the religion we practice tells us one particular person is the head. If you follow a doctrine and it says slavery is the way of life, I have a little advice for you reject the believe because a bunch of people came up with that idea.

I want to compete with a female and be scared of her not because she female but because she's intelligent and has the ability to rule, I want to vote for a female president because she is capable not because I find her sexually attractive.

What a lot of people don’t understand is that when genders are equal, there are no pressures to live a stereotyped life, we are able to fully express our selves; there’s no one way to be a man or an individual. Letting a group of people take the back seat in the economy and society is detrimental to us and reduces our mental capacity as a nation.

We have to let the notion that women are less die a slow death. We cannot as a people allow the next generation live by this archaic mentality, mindset or culture of making women subservient. When women are free and truly free, only then can we be said to be civilised.

The goal of feminism is for both men and women to be equal on all sides, not lose opportunities based on gender, be able to decide for themselves what they want and not to be pigeon holed into being or doing certain things.

Reject gender stereotypes and let's all just be human, living in a better world.

Students Barred from LASUSTECH First Gate Over Safety Concerns

By Habeeb Ibrahim and Adefeso Precious Students of the Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) were on Monday morning restricted from accessing the campus through the First Gate, tagged as West Gate 1, due to safety concerns. The restriction led to confusion among students, who were subsequently directed by security personnel to use the Second Gate for entry into the campus. Speaking on the development, security officials disclosed that the action followed an incident that occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, when a tension wire was reportedly cut from a pole and fell directly at the entrance of First Gate. According to the security personnel, the fallen wire posed a potential risk of injury, electric shock, or sparks to students and other individuals passing through the gate. LASUSTECH Announces February 13, 2027, for Maiden Convocation

By Adetoyinbo Berachah The Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has announced February 13, 2027, as the date for its maiden convocation. The announcement was made by the Director of Student Affairs (DSA), Dr. Ademola Aderogba, during the first engagement meeting of the 2025/2026 academic session. The meeting featured the introduction of Heads of Class (HOCs) and representatives from various departments. Dr. Aderogba addressed issues relating to the academic session and outlined expectations for students. He presented an overview of academic results across colleges and departments, noting variations in performance. Students were advised to ensure lecturers are invited for scheduled lectures.
