Management bans parking behind Library Complex • Reinforces ban on tinted Vehicles Barricade mounted behind the Library Complex Photo: Safiu Kehinde  Safiu Kehinde The Management of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has barred parking of vehicles behind the Library Complex while also reinforcing the ban on tinted vehicles on campus. As contained in last week’s edition of LASUSTECH News issued by Directorate of Information and Public Relations, the ban was imposed by the management to promote orderliness and safety. “Management has observed with dismay the unauthorized parking of vehicles behind the Library Complex of Ikorodu Campus. Vehicles should be parked at designated car parks to ensure safety and orderliness on the campus. To this effect, the University Management has directed that henceforth, no one should park vehicle (s) behind the University Library. Arts Èkó e rèé (This is your Lagos) Èkó e rèé sculpture erected at the Department of Arts and Industrial Design Photo: Adebayo Nurudeen  Adebayo Nurudeen  A landscape depicting the outskirts of Lagos State has been erected at the department of Arts Èkó and Industrial Design. The relief metal sculpture made of fiber glass, iron rod and metals was designed by a final year students of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Joel Oguntola , and titled ‘EKO E’RE ( THIS IS YOUR LAGOS). Lagos is the proclaimed centre of excellence, with a common saying that it accommodates “owners of the house, the guest and the lazy.” The sculpture is a tool to serve as a means of sense of belonging to the students of the institution who has come from various states within the country, and might not be privileged to leave the outskirts of the school before graduating. Organized in commiseration to the death of a lecturer couple of weeks ago alongside reported death cases among students of the campus, both associations embarked on the prayer session in an attempt to ward off further occurrences. Members of the associations were mobilized for the joint prayer session which commenced after the Muslims Jumu’ah prayer. Drama  as Students Clash over Endowment after Sanwo-Olu’s visit Safiu Kehinde The visitation of Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, to Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH)   ended on a frenzy note yesterday as students clashed over the money gifted by the Governor after his departure. Sanwo-Olu had, yesterday, paid the Institution a courtesy visit,   supervising the ongoing Senate/Admin building construction before addressing the group of students who, led by the Students Union Government’s President, Balogun Aderemi, came to honor the Governor’s presence. As a form of gratitude to their gesture, the governor offered the SUG President a token of cash wrapped into brown envelopes. Ademola Onanuga  Safiu Kehinde The Vice Chairman of Nigerian Institute of Mechanical Engineers (NIMECHE), Egbin Chapter, Ademola Onanuga, has tasked female Engineers to invent domestic appliances during the induction of new members of the institute yesterday. Highlighting excessive importation of goods including domestic appliances as one of Nigeria ‘s problem, Onanuga had called on the women to invent while speaking during a courtesy visit to the Dean, School of Engineering, Engr. Yakubu Bankole, by the institute in accomplice to the Association of Professional Women Engineers of Nigeria (APWEN).
