LASUSTECH Celebrates Two Years Anniversary

Lagos State Chairman of Science, Research and Innovation Council (LARISC) and former Vice Chancellor of University of Lagos, Professor Oluwatoyin Temitayo Ogundipe, has said that the backbone of security in any nation is Technology.

According to him, applying innovation in security matters will no doubt make a nation secure.

Professor Ogundipe said this in a keynote address delivered at the second year anniversary of Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH), Ikorodu, Lagos.

He stressed that the students have a very good advantage concerning education and with the present Vice Chancellor who is a researcher, he is sure within the next three years, they will be able to see everything coming up in a good way.

Furthermore, the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Professor Olumuyiwa Omotola Odusanya, said that the government has everything to commission the institution they have established.He mentioned that they are looking forward to greater heights, expansion of facilities, translational research and innovation for the university.

Additionally, the VC recognized the university scholars for their outstanding academic performance in the 2022/2023 academic session. The recognition also came with a scholarship award of 50% off administrative fee of the current academic session.

Also, the overall best student for the 2022/2023 academic session, Ogunbiyi Jubril Olamilekan, was given a scholarship award for a session.


He expressed his joy and excitement in an interview.
" I feel elated and I will say it is a nice feeling getting to be the overall best student. I feel it is a motivation to do better and I hope to also emerge as one of the best students in the coming years " _Jubril Olamilekan

Interview with the Dean of Student Affairs, Dr Adedamola Aderogba: " I feel so elated because this is the first edition and they started well. I admonish the students to mind their business and ask questions they don't understand from their lecturers since they are here to learn "

Interview with Dr Olamrewaju Kuye PRO of Lasustech: " Honestly I'm so elated, especially in the area of scholarship being given to good students. It will spore them to read more and to achieve more. This thing will be celebrated every year, it means we are encouraging our students to do better and perform well in their academics "

Interview with College Officer for College of Applied Social Sciences, Mrs Olufunmilayo Tifashe: " In fact this is the best event I've ever attended this year, I'm so glad, and for the fact that the best student came from my college, I'm so happy and I hope it continues. I hope CASS will produce the best student in the university at the end of the four years program "

Also present at the event was the permanent secretary of the ministry of tertiary education, Prince Adeniran Kasali, who represented Honourable Commissioner Tolani Sule.

In his speech, he mentioned three core parameters that will make the university grow higher and increase the school education. They are, Quality, Access and Relevance. He later assured the students that the various projects going on around would be put to effective use by them.

Students Barred from LASUSTECH First Gate Over Safety Concerns

The restriction led to confusion among students, who were subsequently directed by security personnel to use the Second Gate for entry into the campus. Speaking on the development, security officials disclosed that the action followed an incident that occurred around 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, when a tension wire was reportedly cut from a pole and fell directly at the entrance of First Gate. According to the security personnel, the fallen wire posed a potential risk of injury, electric shock, or sparks to students and other individuals passing through the gate. LASUSTECH Announces February 13, 2027, for Maiden Convocation

By Adetoyinbo Berachah The Lagos State University of Science and Technology (LASUSTECH) has announced February 13, 2027, as the date for its maiden convocation. The announcement was made by the Director of Student Affairs (DSA), Dr. Ademola Aderogba, during the first engagement meeting of the 2025/2026 academic session. The meeting featured the introduction of Heads of Class (HOCs) and representatives from various departments. Dr. Aderogba addressed issues relating to the academic session and outlined expectations for students. He presented an overview of academic results across colleges and departments, noting variations in performance. Students were advised to ensure lecturers are invited for scheduled lectures. According to the DSA, all issues relating to academic results must be resolved before January 27, 2026, when the University Senate will review them.
